Thank you for the reply, both of you. I ordered the FX PRO. If I have to hurry, at worst it will just look sloppy, and I can trim edges. If I miss something I'll just start over, but I think it will be fine. Sounds like they give you enough in the trial kit for plenty of retries anyways. thumb.gif

Yep, you can do a lot of boards if you want.

For one board, you should be fine! I have a tendency to over mix, so I try to throw it on another board but by the time I find one, the dragon skin has already started to harden which doesn't make for a nice application.

I have 3 boards I can use it on, ill do a test run on the first 2 and make my sig mobo and video card the last thing.

Another question I have refers to the area between the gpu core and the vram. This looks like it will be difficult without affecting the how well the water block mounts.

Should I just close up the gap all the way around the full cover block with dragon skin and armaflex tape? May sound like a stupid question, I feel the obvious answer is to carefully cover the whole board without getting core/vram covered but since you guys are the pro's I would like your input.

I don't know how you would do that with a H20 block on it. I am pretty sure you will not get it to mount if you do the Skin first and try and install the block later.

Only way I could see doing it would be having the block installed and pouring skin down from the top, then leveling the card or plug the bottom and just fill it up to the top.

When you try and remove the skin, it will remove the Thermal tape with it, so make sure you have some on back up.

I would do the back of the card first with the block installed so you see how it reacts. Tape off the connection ports and the PCI-E connectors on the card.

Good Luck thumb.gif

I coated my board with Dragon Skin about 6 weeks ago, mainly based on suggestions given earlier in this thread. I used the Medium, which worked just about perfectly for someone who had never worked with it before. Now that I know how to do it, I might consider going with the FAST the next time around. (SLOW is definitely not necessary.)

I wish I had known other people were interested in the stuff, since I had a 30-40% of the original amount still left, just sitting on the shelf. The stuff cost me around $50 with local tax, so it would be nice to sell the leftovers. But this thread had been quiet for so long, I hadn't expected anyone else to be interested!

I really appreciate the info from all the experienced OCers here, as I never would have dared to do anything like this to a motherboard before I started reading the threads. I used to be scared to even touch a motherboard from fear of breaking it. biggrin.gif
But after seeing this

I realized that these babies are a lot more durable than I had ever dreamed! (Although still not too excited by the idea of putting Vaseline into slots ...)

Yeah, that's the UP7. The second long orange slot is only hard wired for x8.
