Those smaller heat sinks you linked should be okay.

As for understanding what a VRM and mosfet are and how they operate, you might want to read this (applies to motherboards and other silicon devices as well).

Yeah they should work, but you might have better luck with heatsinks of larger surface area. I've used these before (been a long time):

Just be sure to clean the tops of the mosfests really well. I've even hit them up with a hair dryer a few times to let the thermal tape bond (heating and cooling cycles).

Would I have to let the thermal tape set for 24 hours before using my PC?

Currently my motherboard is horizontal on a "tech station". Could I still use my PC then while it's like that while the thermal tape cures?

I would attach the sinks and use the PC enough to heat up the mosfet and heatsinks to get them hot and pliable. Then press down on them hard while they are hot and let them set for a day if you can just to be safe.

Unfortunately, Newegg is "having problems with their servers", and I can't stay logged in long enough to place an order. And when I was able to, it kicked me off right as I was verifying the order.

OK so I bought the last Enzotech MOS-C1 heatsinks, and so far so good.

However, the little thermal tape it comes with really isn't great with certain MOSFETs. The taller, thinner ones are having problems staying "snug" with the heatsinks. The regular square MOSFETs aren't having this problem. It's probably just due to the fact that the actual MOSFET is maybe 3/4ths the size of the base of the heatsink, so it has some wobble to it.

Is there any thermal compound I can use safely that will make these heatsinks stick? I'm not too concerned about a permanent stick, as much as I am if it will mess up the MOSFET or not.

I heard this would do the trick but not entirely sure on if it's safe to use on a MOSFET.
