Suggestions on a couple of builds

Okay, my friend wants me to build him, and his sister new computers, becuase the ones they have are old, and don't have much time left.

I'm trying to build them as cheap as I can, because all they do is chat/surf/watch videos.

For one build, I already have a left over motherboard/videocard/powersupply that I'm going to be using...It's a 754 socket, so I'm thinking about getting, the sempron 64 2800+, it's $73.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819104245

Then with that I have stick of 512MB PC3200, $36
80GB HD $47
DVD-RW $34
and a $20 case.
Comes to a total of ~$229

for his sisters, its a complete build, so I got an intel motherboard, celeron processor, 80gb hd, 512mb ram, dvd-rw, 17" montor, and case, which came up to a total of about ~$350.

Now my question is, should that work? Would I have any problem putting that CPU in my existing 754s motherboard? Is there any cheaper alternatives? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Oh, another question, if you were selling a computer, such as this, and wanting to make a profit, what do you think the normal amount of profit you should make off of it would be?

Check for BIOS support for the Sempy, it may need an update to support it.

Agreed with Duke. Semprons OC very well, it would be a shame to keep it at stock speeds. Those are good builds for everyday "chilling" computers that are going to be used for school and such.

As for games, make sure you tell them not to count on gaming because well.. no A64 chip and no 6800 or above :-p

I managed to find the mobo on newegg refurbished, and it says

CPU Type Athlon 64/Sempron

So I'm guessing that won't be a problem.

lol, his sister barely knows how to use AOL so no problem there

as far as him...I tried to get him to play CS once, and lets just say...it was an embarassment to the game so no worries there!

For the profit questions you had, i would say like around 12%-17% of the cost should be decent labor charge....

Newer Sempron 64's don't have full 64-bit instruction sets, so they aren't true 64-bit.
Just thought I'd mention that.
