Ohh I remember buying a 3dfx Voodoo card from Electronics Boutique in '98. Cutting edge stuff unlike my Duron (?) processor although I can't remember the card type.

Ran Half Life Opposing force nicely right up till the last boss and then suffered smile.gif

Amazing to think that highstreet game shops stocked graphics cards back then!

I remember buying the 3500 (with the TV dongle)
but gave it away soon after purchasing this baby biggrin.gif
wish i'd kept the box (and the 3500 too) .... mad.gif

whats seen on the pics is an AGP 5500 fully functional
(still original fans, using amigamerlin drivers)
been a while since i fired it up but was manly used
(and configured) to run n64 emulators. devil-smiley-019.gif

Excellent. My 5500 PCI works fine in the BIOS and in the Windows loading screens, but gives me insane corruption as soon as the system gets to the windows desktop. Don't know what's wrong there. frown.gif

can sound STUPID for sure, but try connecting just a molex power plug to any IDE hd (no data cable), when I fired up my ex i7 920 +evga e760 with my 5500 pci dvi mac the card gave insane interference horizontal bars but somehow doing this fixed it LOL. Who would say a dummy hd would do it rolleyes.gif

I just got a free computer from a friend and it has a Voodoo3 2000 PCI 16MB in it. Thing runs HOT. I was wondering how common these things are? I know 3dfx was bought out about a decade ago frown.gif

I still have my Voodoo3. It currently lives with a Super Socket 7 k6-2+ running at 600 Mhz in an emptied out tower that once housed a Baby-AT 286. That old PC is just around for 3dfx enabled Quake I/II, Descent series, Duke 3d, classic Tomb Raider, etc. And a Lubuntu partition makes this machine my 'backup' to look up on the internet how to undo whatever crap I just did to break the OS on my primary PC!

I pretty much learned C and OpenGL on that machine, and the Voodoo3 was my first 3d card, so I will probably never give it up until it stops working on its own.
