I just found this and I'm drooling already.
I could put that sucker in my 3770k rig, that would be so epic.
There are people using pci to pci-e risers. The SFFT driver even supports Windows 7 x64 smile.gif

I did a little research back when I was buying 3fx cards. The MSI MS-6380E socket A board is one of the best AGP 2x boards, if you can find a mobile athlon XP to use with it. I think I paid $100 for the board, hard to find wink.gif774391.jpg

Very nice find! I had an Intel VC820 lol...Lost that and my voodoo3 3500 agp long ago.
I think the best agp boards would be ddr2 amd ones, with perhaps am2+ socket. Not sure...

There is some debate on the best AGP board. If modded right, the Asrock LGA775 4coredual-sata2 Rev 2.0 paired with a high clocking C2D or one of the QX9xxx extreme chips is the best. There is another Asrock AM2+ board that can take AMD chips pretty high on it. I prefer the Asrock myself for benching AGP cards, with a QX9650.

That's the one I have, KT3 Ultra ARU. The board sucks (AGP 4x by the way), it was total crap: poor chipset (specially software-wise), crippled RAID, the NEC USB 2.0 controller is not 100% compatible with modern USB 2.0 devices, realtek audio, active NB cooling with a failure-prone fan. What else? Oh, it was pretty expensive and my capacitors blew up. I changed them recently but the board didn't not boot, I had to find another one.

If you're talking about AGP motherboards with the same slot as in this picture, the voodoo won't work. read my above post.

So I'm curious then, what do you consider a better 2x/4x board? I really only consider this one a good one because it can run Athlon XP, which have way better performance than the Pentium boards. The periferial devices you mention are of little consequence to me.

I was talking about AGP in general, including 8x boards.

AGP8x boards can't run Voodoo's then?
AGP slots:
AGP_%26_AGP_Pro_Keying.svg

All the voodoo cards I have are keyed for 3.5v. The 4x/8x boards that I've seen are all keyed for 1.5v and will not take the 3.5v ones. I have not run across any universal boards yet, at least not "newer" ones.

Hmm interesting...think I'll have to settle with a pci-e riser and a pci Voodoo then.
