Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake

Thread Starter
Has anyone tried this? It is the next version of Ubuntu Linux (current version is 5.10 Breezy Badger) and since my current install of 5.10 is giving me tons of grief a friend suggested trying the BETA of 6.06 Dapper Drake because it probably will support my 7900GTX. (infact I just got an AIM message from him saying that it does infact support the 7900GTX out of the box with no drivers but if I want 3D Acceleration I'll need to update to the newest 8756 drivers) so I want to hear your opinions on 6.06, its official release is....June 2006 according to my friend, he's been using it for a while and its totally stable so I encourage you guys to try it out as well, I'm downloading the i386 Live and Install discs (i386 so I can try it on my laptop as well).

They are all still ALPHA right now. The beta releases on the 20th of April (3 Days). You can upgrade from alpha to beta, but you may want to wait. It toasted my install when I tried to upgrade from 4.10 to 5.05.

Like wise you can upgrade from the beta to the full version when it is released on 6/6/06 , that is why it called Dapper Drake 6.06! Seriously.

PS, try and find a new members question to answer! Get your one REP point. Then when you are 666, get a little image of the devil to put in your sig! That would be so awesome!

Haha, well seriously, wouldnt it be great to be running Dapper Drake 6.06 on launch day, 6/6/06 with 666 rep points? Now that'd be a freaky screenshot.

How is the interface? Is it the same as Ubuntu or is it a mix of it and KDE?

Here is the 666rep pic
