LAG LAG LAG please help

Thread Starter
having huge amounts of graphics lag on my computer, i know it is an overclocking forum but i have spent many hours trying 2 fix this, and im kinda computer illeterate and u overclockers know ur stuff.

Bout a month ago one of my ******** m8's reset my motherboard, and after then i have had performance related issues. I run a pretty standard system, hope there is enough specs to show, but i used to get a frame rate anywhere between 50-300 in games, now im running out bout 30 at best in games. Im pretty sure its not a cooling issue coz i've had triple the framerate compared 2 now in hot weather and i run enough fans (also sure its not draining power from motherboard.

I was just wondering if any of u guys would either know how to fix this prob and also give me sum info on sum optimized cmos/bios settings, i dont so much want 2 overclock as my pc is not that great, i just want it 2 run like it used 2 or close to that. Im pretty sure the clock or ram ratio thingy is lower than it should be and also i dont know what agp settings 2 run

Any advice would be very helpfull 2 end this heartache

Since you have enough CPU and RAM, I'd say think about a better vid card.
As far as the settings go, is there an "Optimized" setting?

i want new video card but money directed elsewhere atm, it is a pretty crappy card (got it very cheap luckily), but my point 'used' to get a frame rate which i call acceptable, why not now?

OK not to be a "heartdestroyer" but we need more specs, because all motherboards have different CMOS/BIOS. The first thing you could try is load fail/safe defaults, then try optimized defaults- IF AVAIBLE ON YOUR MOTHERBOARD. Lags in games could be caused by DDRAM, if it was working well before (your computer), load exactly the same configuration, make sure that the components are receiving their factory set voltage and speed.

well i say back up your stuff, and restart windows..that hardly sounds like a motherboard problem to me unless its damaged..
start over, clear your cmos again, then start closely examining all the options in your bios and decide whether you need them on or not
check some of the faqs on here for good bios settings
if your overclocking or were be4 make sure your pci/agp is locked or else damage could have occured

so basically read the faq and if that dosnt work restart windows, and if that dosnt work buy a new video card!

hope i helped good luck

I am thinking if your mobo had a re-set then maybe just maybe the settings for your ram could be set at a very default value of 100mhz, which is half of what it could be at. That could be causing the issue. Other factors could be set at a very low speed also. You need to go into your bios by pressing the "Del" key at boot, just after you hear the beep if it beeps and keep pressing it until you get into your BASIC INPUT OUTPUT SYSTEM (like that LOL)and then you can poke around in there and maybe find the setting as mentioned by the Duke, Optimised setting. Not always is the optimised setting optimum but it is worth a go.

cheers and welcome to another Aussie on the forum

Are the same games going down in FPS or is it newer games. Because if its new games and your comparing to you older games then thats why. Newer games require better hardware.
