Is that important?
Sounds about right to me.

Clearing the CMOS is covered in Chapter 2.22. Sometimes it's easier to use the Acrobat (PDF) version of the User's Guide as you can use the Search Feature to find what you are looking for instead of the paper manual.

Swear I looked through every page more than 20 times, I guess I was looking for CMOS in bold. Do I need to clear them from past errors? Or am I good to go now? Everything seems to be stable, I have yet to run Prime95 for more than 1 hour.

You only need to clear it if it won't post after making an overclocking change in the bios or you start having real problems. At this point you really don't need to from what I can see based on your posts so far.

I was really worried last night when my system wouldn't boot no matter what I did. I even restored defaults and still wouldn't boot. I seriously thought I screwed something up badly. At that point, I just thought about it, my BIOS were saved on the flash drive which was plugged in to a USB port. I unplugged it and everything was fine. Apparently, this mobo reads the flash first - regardless of saved BIOS not on the flash drive. I was pretty thrilled that it was that and not something bad lol. I'm a newbie

That's your "boot order" in bios. You can change that to boot on HDD first.

Whenever you have a problem posting or booting try the following.

Remove ANY and ALL USB Devices, especially drives, and communications devices. Even USB Mice and Keyboards can cause problems at times. That's why a person should always have a standard PS/2 keyboard available or a couple of USB to PS/2 adapters to plug a USB mouse and keyboard to get around that type of problem.

Unplug the AC power cord from the PSU then press and hold the power button on the case for a minimum of 30 seconds to completely drain the system of any residual charge.

And before you ever build a new computer READ the motherboard's User's Guide or Manual. EVERY PAGE if it's your first page and at least skim through the main sections if you are experienced. It's surprising how much information is included in them and how many questions are answered in them. I find it absolutely appalling how many times someone will make a post in a thread (or even start a new thread) asking how to connect the various cables to their motherboard. That's what the manuals and user's guides are for. And YES. REAL Men READ the manuals. FOOLS don't.

You're right. I read it a few times, but some of the codes were new to me at the time. I'm a newbie you know! At any rate, I attempted to go for 4.2 for about 3 hours and now I'm calling it a night. No matter what I did - I had system lock up and unexpected reboots. I'm at 4.04 now and after running Prime95 for 1 hour peak temp was 78C. I think I'm good for now, but maybe I need to re-paste the Megahalems. Peace

It's not too late. Stability is not a requirement, so if you have validations of unstable clocks, the highest is always welcome. As you can see in my sig, I quote my 24/7 and my best validation. Up to you!
