4.2Ghz @ 1.35v
86c by the 3rd pass of IBT...

Safe long term or should I drop back to 4Ghz 78c until I can afford to go water?

Nothing else heats up your processor like IBT, Prime95, OCCT, or other stress testing programs.

Yeah, 4.2 about the limit of H70 unless you put hurricane force type fans on, and even then probably only 4 degrees better where full water would probably give you 10 degrees.
Suggest Rasa kit as least expensive but effective option. Full custom water can be expensive, but no better than Rasa really, and both will only get you another 200MHz more OC on average......

Thanks for the info. I have big plans in the works with the new case I purchased. Internal room for an RX480 and (2) RS240s, however powder coating and misc supplies has taken a large chunk out of my water budget. Its going to have to wait a month or two before it will be up and running.

NO issue at all mate.. 86c is fine with IBT.. As someone stated IBT stresses and heats systems up more than any other process/app.. Sounds just about right to me.. I actually hit 92c in summer but haven't had any negative impact and that was three months ago.. still stable at 4.4 HT/on.. So thats where my advice comes..

Good luck

Yeah, those look pretty good, especially those temps. :0 You may be able to get higher at that voltage. Lots of i7s make it to 4ghz under 1.3v.

Man, I was messing with getting it over 4GHz and I did but I had to crank the voltage (for stable). 1.4v-1.45v for anything over 4GHz on mine for some reason. Plus I like the setting I have because like you said temps are great, and the I can use the multiplier to get my RAM to 1600MHz.

I am able to get 4.0 stable at 1.352v load with HT on. For 4.24 I need 1.41v, so once you start passing 4.0 you will see a larger gap for stable voltage..

As far as safe temps.
If you run Coretemp in the background when gaming and any other things that put stress on your cpu (other then stress testing) you can get an idea of the min/max temps it runs at.
If those temps stay below 70c I say your plenty safe... IBT puts about 10c more than Prime95, and not very much else will ever put that kind of stress on your cpu..

What do you guys say to the energy saving feature, EIST, C1E? I disabled them and I am getting the same temps, plus my proccessor isn't bouncing all over the place. Only thing is that I have 1.312v constantly for my CPU. Is that ok?

I think most people disable them..

They tend to hinder the OC and cause instability.. But I have seen a few people enabling them to save power... I would recommend sleep mode if your that concerned about Watt usage..
