It's that "budget" problem. i7 990x tastes and a i7 950 income..tongue.gif

For some reason did better than the average .1 on Heaven Extreme bench with my Palit/s.

Best bet for using the GPU's you have is using the EP45 and some E8400-E8600 chips. They should clock high on DICE and are great for 3D if your not going to use pukey bridge. They are great for points too. Q6600 netted me about 100 points too.

Hoping you guys can help me out with my 950. I am attempting to get it to 4.2 stable. The guide I have been using is this one: Link

I tested all the way up to 210 BCLK with the QPI/DRAM set to 1.2 and the multi on 15. That passed 1 hr Intel Burn Test max and 1 hr prime. My memory all passed as well.

Then I raised my multi to 21 and started testing the bclk from 150 up to 200. At this point my vcore was set to 1.2. When I got to 190 I had to raise the vcore to 1.250 for it to pass.

200 is where I am having problems. I thought I had it with the vcore set to 1.3375 because it passed 20 passes of intel burn test max but then I ran prime95 and it froze after only 2 minutes testing. So I raised to 1.34375 and got through about 20 mins of Prime before a 101 bsod.

My concern is the temps are around the low 80s under full load at that vcore, ambient is around 25.

Settings are:
Multi 21
BCLK 200
DRAM 1603
UCLK 3208
QPI Link 7218

vcore 1.34375
QPI/DRAM 1.2
IOH PCIe volt 1.1
DRAM 1.5

Everything else is auto

Speedstep, spread spectrum, C1E, virt tech, TM function, execute disable bit are all disabled. LLC is enabled.

Any advice would be helpful not sure what to try next. I am running 4.2 right now just cant get it stable.

Once you get to a certian point you will need bigger jumps in vcore so you might have to keep going. You can try a little more QPI as well.

With Prime, was it blend or small fft test?
If it passes small fft but not blend then likely a ram problem. Is that qpi.vtt enough?

101 usually vcore, but it's a bit hungry if it wants more than 1.33 for 4.2

Here's a template from a rampage III, might help...

The prime was a blend test, I'll try a small. Its just strange it passed intel burn test 20 passes then failed after only a couple mins of prime.

Should I be messing with the IOH and ICH settings or leave them auto?

Umm, QPI link over 6000MHz may be a problem too... at least it was on my Mobo...

I'd tend to think QPI/DRAM 1.3, but thats just a feeling, no science.

I do have my ioh on 1.24, but no idea if it is really necessary.

I lost touch with this great resource thanks! Anyhow decided to stop F'in around and get back to what I enjoy. Pushin the manufacturers specs around. This is my first attempt at oc'ing an Intel CPU and I am please so far with the results. And with a Xigma heatpipe air cooling unit.

7218 is the lowest setting available to me, unless I choose "Slow mode". Should I just put it on auto?

I am starting to think my NH-14 is not seated well because my temps are getting really high, I kept my vcore at 1.34375 and raised my qpi/dram to 1.35 and it was getting into the mid 80s maybe I should just try getting 4.1 stable.

Would it help if I changed my multi to 23 and backed my bclk down in the 180s? My mem wouldn't be at spec but I doubt that would make much difference.
