Now 've been called some pretty bad things, but no need to hit below the belt...
On a serious note, anyone wondering or considering a higher clocking cpu.
Every test I have seen, and we have done a bunch of them shows that any single card setup below a GTX570 is not utilizing theses cpu's after 3.8 or so in games... I have seen tests of a 2600k at 3.8 to 5.0 matched with a 570 and there was very little change is performance. Gaming is just not that cpu dependent unless it has the GPU power to push it.
Now if your looking to bench, or doing some crazy intense CPU activity the added MHz will help.
But for general use and gaming a i7 @ 3.8 to 4.0 is all you need until you go with a 590, 6990 or dual card setup with at least 2 x 400/6800 series cards...
So case in point, dont wast your money on cpu's unless you have a good GPU or your into benching and just want to beat NoGuru and Alan's HWBot scores... Which is totally understandable LOLEdited by 10acjed - 6/1/11 at 5:03am
