Tigerpaws, there are a few things you can do to help with getting a high CPU-Z validation.
Go to the download section here at OCN and get SetFSB and find your ICS # that matches your board, take some practice runs at low clocks to learn how to use it.
Use the "F7" feature that CPU-Z has, as long as you are clicked on the CPU-Z program, if you hit F7 it will save the validation file in its program file. Mine is at C:\\Program Files\\CPUID\\CPU-Z
Last thing, shut off unneeded processes and services. Anything you can do to put less stress on the CPU when trying to validate will help. Good luck!
Thanks mate

I check out where the crystal is, mine is ICS9LPRS916JKLF its the ws pro

Found this one i tested
ICS9LPRS918BKL <--P6T

And tested this one too, it almost the same.
ICS9LPRS916JGLF

You think its cause there is a difference in the chip? I did try hard, i know its not stable at 210, but i can push a few extra mhz with turbov but a instant lockup with setfsb(plus i allowed enough vcore @ 210 to go up that 1 mhz, and with stock bclk 210) but locks up when trying to read the mhz before i set it

Can get 211 and 212 with turbov but very unstable. also went though all settings to try lowering any thing i can, but cant get any extra out of it. Its Ambient 20c now and its needing extra vcore by about .0125-.1875 @ 210, its getting very thirsty with vcore beyond here, oh how much i just want 0.02 more nb, i feel i could go a fair bit more, but i think i might not get to find out

Oh mate never new i could do that with F7, dam dream now with so little load to do that

I used Autoruns to stop every thing from starting up, uninstalled nod32 since i cant stop it's service. I was thinking about in time to come getting 2 more hard drives and rigging this board up with just xp x64

Next run i do i'll rid everything i dont need, no Capture card, only 2 sticks ram, and get rid of 3 hard drives

Thanks for the great tips there mate, i'll have to do the 212 again cause it says corrupted

Im no pro, i think im noob at oc, still learning a lot, any tips or any thing wrong be greatly appreaciated

Had to edit and add might not be relevant(unless pushing it) but i got no error code for 0x1A, i got that dropping the sb volt only, bclk 210. Googling it says ram. Every volt i have cant be lowered checking each one individually

I need some help with my I7-960, ive gotten stable @ 4.2ghz@1.4v, but im trying to lower the Vcore as much as possible while staying stable. Can you guys give me some ideas on things to try in the bios to help lower my vcore.

25x160
Ioh/Ich voltage @ 1.2v
ram voltage @ 1.5v As per XMP Vengance ddr3-1600 rated @ 1.5v
QPI/VTT 1.35V
cpu pll 1.88v
spread spectrumz off.
line load on

with all power saving features off, hyperthreading on.

CODE RED, looks like we got another one bitten by the benchmark bug.
If you want to really get into benchmarking I can help you. Some of what you wrote is a little hard to understand so try and make yourself more clear.
Post your basic settings that you are at when BCLK won't go any higher.

Looks about right to me. Might want to try dropping the multi and using more BCLK. Might help.

Im running 2 sticks of ram now, and have to drop CPU Voltage and QPI Voltage in all my notes. Made a big mess from it, but i'll post all common settings below for almost bootable BLCK 210(i will get it to boot, the next overclock i do) and then further below all the others settings in the bios incase they need enabling or fixing. Instead of going the BLCK 211 then 212 and 213(to post a new update) i should had just fixed BLCK 210, just getting a bit late

I'll give what is close to boot(was bootable), i have no worries using this with Turbov, but have to fix it in the bios sometime
BCLK = 210
CPU Voltage = 1.5375 <-- is exacty .05v difference to QPI even when i had the BLCK way back at 200, i read that the PLL has to do with it?
QPI/DRAM v. = 1.4875
DRAM Volt = 1.54
ICH = 1.2
IOH = 1.44
CPU PLL = 2.12 <-- is a bit high, only way i could get the BCLK 210 to boot without high CPU voltage and QPI/DRAM volage

All other settings
Code:
UCLK Freq = [Auto]
QPI Link Data Rate = [Auto]
IOH PCIE Voltage = [Auto]
ICH PCIE Voltage = [Auto]
LLC = [Enabled]
CPU Differential Amp = [800mv] had to use 700mv with BCLK 213, for current results at end of post
CPU Clock Skew [Auto]
CPU Spread Spectrum [Disabled]
IOH Clock Skew [Auto]
PCIE Spread Spectrum  [Disabled]
CIE [Disabled]
Hardware Prefecter  [Enabled]
Adjacent Cacheline Prefetch  [Enabled]
MPS and ACPI MADT Ordering = [Modern Ordering]
Intel VT [Disabled]
CPU TM Func. [Enabled]
Execute Disable Bit  [Enabled]
Intel HT =  [Disabled]
Active Processor Cores [All]
Intel SpeedStep Tech [Enabled]
Intel C-State Tech [Disabled]
With the ram, I have not done much with the settings except for those i could understand in the bios, im very lost from the several years ago mobos
Code:
DRAM CAS# Latency [9]
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay [9]
DRAM RAS# PRE Time [9]
DRAM RAS# ACT Time [25]
Dram RAS# to RAS# Delay [Auto]
DRAM REF Cycle Time [60] Read some where on the net to keep it loose for higher clocks, instead of using 40 by pic below

Plus a whole lot more settings for the ram that i have not changed

Update, BLCK 213, 1mhz off from a nice even number

QPI/DRAM v. = 1.4875
DRAM Volt = 1.54 I would give it a bit more just to grab some extra Mhz
ICH = 1.2 Maybe a bump or two
IOH = 1.44 Seems a bit high

CPU PLL = 2.12 <-- is a bit high, only way i could get the BCLK 210 to boot without high CPU voltage and QPI/DRAM volage

All other settings
[code]
UCLK Freq = [Auto]
QPI Link Data Rate = [Auto]
IOH PCIE Voltage = [Auto]
ICH PCIE Voltage = [Auto]
LLC = [Enabled]
CPU Differential Amp = [800mv] had to use 700mv with BCLK 213, for current results at end of post
CPU Clock Skew [Auto]
CPU Spread Spectrum [Disabled]
IOH Clock Skew [Auto]
PCIE Spread Spectrum [Disabled]
CIE [Disabled]
Hardware Prefecter [Enabled]
Adjacent Cacheline Prefetch [Enabled]
MPS and ACPI MADT Ordering = [Modern Ordering]
Intel VT [Disabled]
CPU TM Func. [Enabled]
Execute Disable Bit [Enabled]
Intel HT = [Disabled]Off can sometimes net you higher CPU-Z
Active Processor Cores [All]
Intel SpeedStep Tech [Enabled]
Intel C-State Tech [Disabled]
Also give your PCI-E a bump from 100 to 104-106 might help you boot higher.

Thread Starter
I leave speedstep off. (also all c-states)
CPU pll doesn't seem to affect things at the air and water cooling level. I've had it down to 1.6 without any obvious effect at all on my x58a-ud3r
DRAM I nearly always run 1.66 or 1.68 even..
and what Noguru said...yes
