Whatever stress test you trust.
Yep, it will boot back with an overclock failed warning in bios after a three try reboot, but I don't think you'd get that unless there was some other problem already.

Wow I just wen over that guide and a hobo that never used a pc b4 could overclock with that lol!
Well my pc runs prime and everything without a prob idles low 30's and at 55 with load....so I was just looking for a ez OC so I can stay under 70*c at load...

And that guide was exactly wat I was looking for!!!
If I run cool at 3.8 I'll try the 4ghz OC
And in the next week or two ill b adding 5 or more fans to have max air flow in the case!
So if the 4.0ghz is in the low 70's it will b fine in the next wedge weeks....a buddy's pc oc'd to 4.2 and dropped 3-5*c by adding fans the same way I am...he couldnt find that guide since he couldnt point me to it lol
He couldn't run stable at 3.8 or 4.0 but weirdly enough he can run 24/7 at 4.2ghz lol

One last question b4 I go home and try this lol
If I get a BSOD I can just set bios to default and it's back to stock settings?
And what r the BSOD errors again I can't find em lol
And could I just up my multipler to 23 instead of 21 and up my Vcore for a 4.2ghz OC? Or Gould I follow his other guides IF I can handle more then 3.8 OC?

Yes reset bios. If you have just done a bios flash I'm told to reboot to bios in "Optimised Defaults" before Overclocking...

BSOD codes for overclocking
0x101 = increase vcore
0x124 = increase/decrease vcore or QPI/VTT...have to test to see which one it is
0x0A = unstable RAM/IMC, increase QPI first, if that doesn't work increase vcore
0x1E = increase vcore
0x3B = increase vcore
0x3D = increase vcore
0xD1 = QPI/VTT, increase/decrease as necessary
0x9C = QPI/VTT most likely, but increasing vcore has helped in some instances
0x50 = RAM timings/Frequency or uncore multi unstable, increase RAM voltage or adjust QPI/VTT, or lower uncore if you're higher than 2x
0x109 = Not enough or too Much memory voltage
0x116 = Low IOH (NB) voltage, GPU issue (most common when running multi-GPU/overclocking GPU)
0x7E = Corrupted OS file, possibly from overclocking. Run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r

What I really needed was http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2246714, but seeing you've been so keen, I worked it out from your pic.

You don't have to be stable here either. A validation is all you need, but if you should happen to know the batch number of your chip, I like to add them. No rush. It's written on the box your cpu came in. It's also written on the cpu. If you don't have the box, it'd be good if you could remember to copy and post it next time your cooler is off the chip. thumb.gif
