Better to make a new post each time so I get a notification, but saw it on 1GHz Club and entered it up anyway, before I saw this. When you do top out, remember you can probably go a bit further by disabling hyper threading.

hahaha lucky you
for some reason my chip needs about 1.53v now O.O
but temps are fine O.o
strikes me odd =/
i'm using h50 as my cooling solution with the crappiest cfm fans EVER
and my cpu temp gets to 68 only while my core temps get to 82 only
interesting...

UGH. Even without hyperthreading, I CANNOT push my chip any farther. It doesnt even come close to getting into windows. And I'm not going above 1.55 volts without water or LN2. This chip needs to make it through college, and I'm just a junior in high school...

I'd say a 4.8 ghz run on sub 1.5 volts is pretty good though

Can someone help me calculate Vdroop? Because if they can, I'll take the chip as far as it can go without exceeding 1.55 volts. I simply can't afford to have this chip degrade.

@roflolol, nice job again with low vcore. if you want to hit 5ghz, (helps if you can put computer in 5-15C ambients) boot into windows at 4.7ghz and ~1.52 vcore cpuz. Then open cpuz (so you dont crash by opening cpuz at 5ghz). Then use easytune (again preloaded) to raise blck to get 4.9 or 5ghz...then validate before it freezes. Also if you can get easytune 6 to work, you can move up both vcore and bclk, once into windows.

Booting into windows at 5 aint easy on either water or air.

Software overclocking? Great idea, thanks! Wait, I'm still fairly new to overclocking. Is it validated the moment you hit the button, or do you need to wait for the internet window to pop up?

EDIT: Got in with the 4.7 ghz run, then immediately discovered that gigabyte wouldn't let it work on an asus board. fail run is fail lol.

Asus will have an equivalent software overclocking program... is it Asus AI - check the cd disks your mobo came with...

You can also try setfsb. You again boot up at 4.7 with the necessary vcore, qpt/vtt, vdimm to hit 5ghz. Then just use setfsb to change the bclk to hit 5ghz. setfsb though you have to play with drop down clock generator or search the net and see which one works with your mobo (it wont work with all though).

btw my bad on the easytune thing, for some reason thought you had a GB board (not that ASUS isnt staring me in the face in your sig or anything).

Yeah SetFSB can work really good, and it works better then some off the software that comes with MOBO's becasue it uses a lot less resources to operate.

If you can't track down the ICS code that best way to find it is look on the chips on your board if you can read them and find one that say's ICS%#@@%^^& and try and match it up with a code in SetFSB.
