PC133 vs. DDR vs. DDR2 - Page 3

length of the RAM does not matter tbqfh
its all up to your motherboard what it can run!

SDRAM

DDR

DDR2

see where the sticks doesnt have pins? your motherboard will have raised plastic so you cannot insert the wrong ram or backwards.
go to your motherboards manufacturer website and look up your model to see what it can run.

If you would read than you would know I already know perfectyl waht ram does, how many pins, or what supports it...... I just wanted to know the physical LENGTHS of the different types of ram....

Or, you could match pin configurations, but that would be just too hard wouldnt it..

what do you mean match pin configurations? Too me it made sense that DDR2 with 240pin is much longer than DDR with 168pins..... I guess not...SDRAM, DDR, and DDR2 are all the same lengths..

Ping configuration, a.k.a. where the breaks between the pins are. They are all unique.

They are all the same lenght... just the number of pins (connectors between RAM and the slots on the motherboard) is different. Also, PC133 has two nothes, while DDR and DDR2 have only one. I think the notch on DDR and DDR2 are at a slightly different position

why the hell do you have to know the lenght?! ithe lenght doesnt (DOES NOT) matter because if your motherboard dont support the ram you want to use (sdram, ddr, ddr2) it wont fit into the ram slots on the motherboard at all even if its the same lenght.

listen... you have to find out what moderboard he has, NOT what ram he has.

the memory this chap has could be rambus? not sure what length that stuff is, I cant find any at work to measure..

but thinking about it they prob the same size as all other memory.
has the motherboard got ye olde 72pin simms in it by any chance?

We can add Rambus into the discussion so I can scream at Intel for their stupidity? :swearing:

Gunna trashcan my 1.8Ghz 423 P4 b/c of the stupid RDRAM it has. 800Mhz still competes, but for the price...Jeeez my DDR400 outperforms it.

I thought upgrades were supposed to get cheaper when the equipment became ancient. 6 years later and PC800 RDRAM is more expensive than DDR400....

Yeah when technology is old its not made anymore .......so it becomes rare and more expensive........

By the way everyone can stop posting .... I just made my friend download cpuz.... he doesn't know crap about computers so all he knew were the lengths of his ram.......
