Oh wow, that really shows just how awesome GTs are! This just convinced me to pick up some for my next build. I always just assumed that yates couldn't be THAT much worse.

Looks very strange in relation to your previous measurements. How far is the new anemometer sensor from the fan? Could it be that the GT is concentrating the "throw" where the sensor is?

Is it possible that something in the configuration changed? Did you measure the GT first or last?

Did something in the room change?

Did you test at the same distances?

I was really careful about consistency. The only thing out of my control was the ambient noise level from the rain outside, that did fluctuate a little, but every test at least per the ART meter started with the ambient noise level below 31.2dBA.

Here is where I mounted the hot wire sensor, I reset to zero at the beginning of the round, I even tested the D12SM12 at beginning and at the end and they lined right up.

Yeah, same exact everything except the fan change, all tested within the same hour even.

Only thing different is the new sound level meter added and new hotwire anemometer.

I also still have the 34 tube flow spreader plus the radiator acting as a flow spreader between fan and sensor.

I'll just have to retest these again, and maybe do some velocity checks across the cross section.

Baffling, but I always seem to find new things when changing around a test setup...all the more reason not to get too hung up on any one method.

I suppose I could retest with the Omega HH-30, but it will be adding in vane noise. It's actually pretty noisy for such a nice meter, but it would give me another check..

Still processing for higher qualities, but here is a quick video of a couple of voltage steps of similar CFM between the Zalman and the GT.

Now that you have the meter, instead of the tube device with the restriction, you could measure the air speed behind the radiator (fan in push). One with high fpi and one with low fpi

Not sure what would be more consistent or exactly what the setup would look like and whether you would measure in one point or multiple points... anyway, just a thought.

Edit:

Speaking of what, did you ever consider using a small 120 radiator and then the tunnel you have, but without additional restrictions?

Sorry, just brain dumping

I've got several folks looking to sponsor more fans and also a GTX radiator, so I might just do that.

Round 6 might be a pretty big group, plan to retest a bunch and add a bunch of additions. It might take a while, but it would be a good update...
