The answer is yes but with conditions.

1. the licence type of windows can not be single user.
2. The hardware configuration has to be the same or very similar.

What you are trying to do create a distributable image using a product like symantech Drive Image 7

http://www.itreviews.co.uk/software/s268d.htm

You can mess around with a image to get it to suit your needs create msi installers to load device specific drivers and software after the image is installed.

You can not.

The puropse of making an image is to capture an exact system state this includes the format of the drive.

bicolormoth.
Since you are capturing a complete system state as long as the drive is 80 gb or over there should be no issues

It seems to me the best way to go about what you want to do is

1. create the perfect set up this includes drivers, software, windows settings. Get it working really good.

2. Create your image.

3. Deploy your image

In my experence most destop engeneers will work for days and months to create a perfect image. Then it goes through the validation process where it is tested and hammered on it to see if it will break. If it lasts only then do they make the final image and put it out for distro Or Production. But this is in a enterprise enviroment. Where hardware and software are the same this model works very well. Now if any changes are introduced the distro image must once again be put through the validation proccess.

I only add this as a look at what the proccess.

To convert from FAT32 to NTFS, boot into DOS with a bootdisk floppy or an Ultimate Boot CD and run:

C:\\> CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs

Reboot when its finished by hitting the restart button on your case. You'll now have an NTFS formatted disk with no data loss. More info here:

http://www.ntfs.com/quest3.htm

Convert your current drive to NTFS and then use a ghosting application like Norton Ghost to make a clone on a CD/DVD. You then put in the new drive and ghost it with that CD/DVD.
