How to properly overclock FX60 on Asus (NOOB) - Page 3

Per your PM.
Please post your question here after mine, so it makes sence to the others

Where are you looking for the memory increase?
It won't show in the BIOS but will in CPU-Z which you can get @ www.cpuid.com
You should set to either Dewfault which is DDR400 or try setting it to DDR400 manually.

NOTE
Check this link on your BIOS, VERY IMPORTANT, you can thank dragosmp for the info

I'm using the same motherboard as the OP... I'd spent a lot of time researching it before I bought it, and had quite a bit of help with that from one of the testing gurus over at Anandtech. It is VERY unadvisable to use any BIOS older than 0311. There were some serious stability problems with the earlier BIOSes.

0311 is capable of up to 1.600 vCore, which is plenty for just about anything. I haven't trie dthe 0404 yet, as I really haven't had any issues with the 0311.

The speeds are showing correctly. You are seeing the actual MHz on your memory. The rated speed at that MHz would be DDR412. 200MHz = DDR400

Thanks for that Witchfire.

i checked the timiming on the memory i got from overclockers.co.uk (were i bought it from) its showing latencies of 2-3-2-6-1T

Mine is showing 2T should i manually change that in the bois or would it cause problems? is my memory timings correct against the real specs from the site?

Yes, you should manually change the Command Rate to 1T. Until you get into much higher FSB territory, you should be able to stick with 1T.

In addition, change that 6 to an 8. The ATI 3200 chipset likes that setting, and it should slightly increase your memory bandwidth. I qucik compatison with SISoft Sandra Memory Read & Write tests should confirm that.

I'm at work right now... When I go home for lunch, i'll go into my BIOS & check. I know it's not buried too deep. However, depending on your BIOS version, it may be different. DFI is famous for that crap... I had to flash the BIOS on my LanParty 250GB probably 5 times, and the memory timing and other various options got scattered to different places at the whim of whoever was building/modding the BIOS. I know I'm running the 0311 BIOS right now, so this will apply to that directly. When I get some more info on the 0404, I might flash to that & do some tinkering.

Depending on other factors, you might see anywhere from 3-8% difference in performance between 1T & 2T. For me, the only time to go to 2T is if you're running 4 sticks of RAM (necessary, 4 sticks won't run @ 1T on the 939 platform right now), or if you're bumping the FSB into uncharted territories as a bit of a stability enhancer.
