Peak Temp Failsafe for Phenom II X4 965 BE?

I keep reading that this cpu has a failsafe that makes it reset after it reaches ~62 degrees Celsius. Well I have a 965BE at my disposal (for my gf's sister's build, but don't have all the parts yet) so I popped it into my system (with her permission) and started playing around with it. Currently at 3.94GHz with voltage set at 1.5. The computer is the exact one in my sig, but just diff cpu.

Intelburntest got this up to 69 degrees! Isn't the failsafe supposed to prevent that by just restarting the computer? Maybe I misunderstood or was just misinformed.

What is the max temp for this cpu?

must be wrong. im sure 62 is max temp. if it's new, it might have the faulty temp sensor (can't RMA it, all 1055T have it) and it says it's like 10C under. i have it too.

EDIT: i meant to say your 965 might of been built with the new X6 temp sensors, reporting the temps 10C ish less.

So whatever Core Temp reports, just knock off around 10 degrees? When I saw the temperature climbing that high I was expecting the restart, but it never came...

I guess I'll push it a little harder and see if it can reach 72 degrees? Once it reaches that point the failsafe must surely kick in if it's the temp sensor that's at fault.

As in, the CPU reporting it's 52 but in reality it would be 62.

Sorry, it's late and I'm a little tired so I must be confused.

If Core Temp is showing 69 degrees, is the cpu really around 59 degrees? It seems like you guys are adding 10 degrees to what is shown, which would make it 79...

we arent sure exactly how many C it is, but lets just say its around 10C. the failsafe is 62C, and if it reaches that it will shutdown. if it says 69C and it's not shutdown clearly it's not right temp. sounds like 60cish

Alright, thanks for clearing that up. I'm going to try to bump it a little past 4.0 and see what happens...

only problem is, this may sound modest of me, but what if you break it you gf wont be happy. na srsly tho, i think your pretty close to the temp line, i whouldnt increase the voltage any more than you have if you don't want the time space continuam to be ripped. i run my 1055T @ 3.7ghz due to the lovely 35C temps (probally 45 knowing the temp sensor)

Go overclocking more if you want, but you whould need more cooling

If I fry this one, then it would be a great excuse to grab an X6, hehe :-P

Well, I bumped the voltage to 1.520 and the CPU-NB is at 1.15

The system is not stable, but didn't restart when Core Temp showed 71.

The adventure continues...
