How about a +3700 sandy (£150) I hear they are a good chip. What can it OC to? 2.8?

I need a good 939 mobo for it though. preferably a good board, but... well... cheap. I want this to cost as clost to £200 as possible, but i'd rather have to beg borrow and scriunge a bit more cash to get the 3700 rather than the 3500.

I'd take a close look at the MSI Neo4-F. It'll do over 310 mhz and is very inexpensive and stable. In my opinion though, I don't think this is enough of an upgrade to spend the money on. Yes, an AMD will grant you AMD3DNOW! technology and will better your gaming, but it's just not enough of a step up to warrant spending the money. I think you're better off buying another gig of ram and saving your money for something down the road. Just my .02
Edit: If it were me, I'd spend the money on upgrades that will last and follow you into your next machine. Have you looked at getting an X-Fi and another gig of ram? Both could be used in your next build as well as helping immediately.

:/ I dont feel i need a sound card. Onboard does just fine for me.

The main difference between this and a small upgrade, is with a new mobo+cpu, i can actually overclock. With this OEM pos mobo i cant do anything. And a s939 mobo would last me

I'd have to wait till may anyway, but i have a job interview on friday so if all goes well ill have a new job on monday

A good sound card like the X-Fi will make a HUGE difference in audio quality, and it will take some of the load off the CPU, and maybe help your FPS.

Noxious you do not need to buy upgrades other than maybe 2 gigs of ram. Something else is causing this problem. I reccomend that you format your harddrive and reinstall windows. I have a 3400+ which pretty close to your CPU and I can play Oblivion at your settings with a worse video card and with 1 gb of ram. I have 1.5 gigs now but it played with at those settings with only 1 gb. I think you might be having comflicts with old drivers or you may have a virus or something. So reinstall Windows and see if that helps.
