This is a pretty massive string of assumptions here.

Even in the "best case" scenario, not everyone is going to consider such things beneficial.

In the much more likely scenario where this system turns out to be hideously expensive, completely ineffective, and widely abused, I doubt much of anyone will be able to honestly claim it provides any benefit. Well, I'm positive many people will still claim it's beneficial, but they will be delusional, or blatantly lying.

I don't like the fact that the government= people. Your going to find good and bad folks in every organization. I'd be a little concern of what could happen when this gets used in the wrong way.

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.”
Benjamin Franklin

There are lots of variations of this quote but it's one of my favorites.

You hate THIS government?!

They've cut half a million jobs??? - Yes, they have - but over 4 years, and due to government investments in different areas, and the inevitable growth over that period - over 1 million jobs will be created.

Scrapped EMA - SO WHAT! I didn't get jack from it anyway. It was a joke of a benefit - £30 a week for books, stationary, etc... Let's be honest, most College students spent it on booze and weed!

The retirement age needs to be upped - people are not living to just 70 or 80 anymore, they're living into their 90s/100s - and thanks to the former governments lack of action sooner, the public sector pensions are already being heavily subsidised by the government and operating at a major loss (not exactly a fair starting ground!).

You say they are cutting the defense budget... yes, I agree with that - but look into the spending over the last few years, it's been irresponsible at best. We haven't modernised, we are still using cold-war era ships/planes. Trident has billions of pounds chucked at it every year for extremely aging technology. Now what they are doing, is ordering newer more effective equipment which they need less of, and scrapping old equipment which has just become a drain on resources!

Now, look at it from a different perspective... the UK carries on spending beyond it's means and spends 80%, 90% or even over 100% of GDP (like Greece for example) over the next 4 years. Britain looses it's AAA borrowing status and as a result of that interest rates double. We are then in a position for EU/IMF intervene because we would need serious help. First steps - cutting jobs with very little redundancy pay-outs, pensions and welfare cut deeper than they are already and more than likely, further privitisation of government assets - including BBC, Oil, NHS, Royal Mail, etc...

Britain declined heavily after WW2 and during the cold-war with the losses of the final parts of the old empire and the development of the Soviet Union (Russia), the United States and more recently Germany as the figure head of the EU - that decline stopped during the Thatcher years, and it started again in 1997. Britain will grow economically from a Conservative government - always have, always will!

... Anyways, back on topic

I'm all for the sentiment that I have nothing to hide, so I don't care. But it totally depends on whether they abuse it or not - which, by all accounts, WILL happen. But it probably already does. At the end of the day, Britain's biggest threat (terrorist wise) is from Islamic extremists inside it's own borders. The easiest way for them to communicate with fellow extremists around the world is the Internet - and if them doing that thwarts any efforts internally to attack Britain, that's fine. Equally, if it's used to catch child molesters/pornographers then that's fine with me too.

That is a downright ignorant response, and I hope you posted it just to troll, as I hope no one is really stupid enough to think like that in the modern age.
