Well for any of you tweakers out there that would want more performance would create a warranty issue of disassembling (sorry spelling) the whole cpu block. I'm sure it wouldn't be very user friendly.

Why cant you buy silver plated HS's? some1 would buy them for sure. Although i suppose the performance increase would not be worth the cost. (1-2c for like 2x price)

Because the purpose of thermal paste is to fill the microsoft grooves in the heatsink and processor cover. A sheet of silver is not going to do this.

Heh, the paste being a reduction agent reminds me of how a solution of copper chloride eats through aluminium. Probably a similar single replacement reaction if you ask me.

Wouldnt it leak down if you had your computer verticle like 95% + of us do?

I guess this would be a definite no-go for me, I have that same HS it ate through.
