IT LOOKS LIKE AMD is going to pull in the AM2 launch by about two weeks to try and out-game Intel.

I hope they step up their 'Anti-HT' thing and get that out sooner rather than later.

i would be hesitant to be an early adopter when it comes to a new chipset. the early impressions haven't been great in regards to AM2 performance gains over 939.

personally, i would wait 6+ months for the socket to mature and mobo revisions to get tweaked.

Well if they moved up that date, that means things are progressing faster than expected at AMD, so everything over there is probably running ahead of schedule, hopefully including the 65nkm process design

I'm really hoping that AM2 brings higher clock speeds even at 90nm. I think it's obvious that Conroe will be faster clock for clock than AM2, so that means that AM2 will need to be hitting 3.2 + to compete. I suspect that the first Conroe out won't retail any faster than 2.66. If so you can probably get them to 2.9 - 3.0 on air. Hopefully when AMD goes to 65nm they can ramp speeds up to 3.6 or so.

If you are refering to HyperThreading... That is old technology. Intel doesn't even offer it on its new processors. Releasing a AMD version of it would be, well, stupid.

"Anti-HT" is where you take multiple cores and treat them as one.
"Anti-HT"...so to speak...
is taking two cores, and making the computer think it's one. This way you can do SUPER FAST single threaded operations. Like SuperPi or something....
