P4 3.4 GHz Socket478 fix my bottleneck?

Thread Starter
Well, I've been trying frantically to get my GeForce 6600GT 128mb / AGP card to work. I've spent 200$ on the card(Canadian money of course), and 170$ on an Ultra 500w PSU, 3 fans, and a new HSF. I thought this would resolve the underpower issue I thought I had, but it didn't do a lot. My last resort is to buy a new processor, the one mentioned in the title of this thread. I currently have a 2.4Ghz Celeron, and I have read many threads discussing how poorly the 6600GT runs with a Celeron. So hopefully with your opinions in this thread I will spend the last of my savings and buy the listed processor below, or return the 6600GT and the hardware I bought. Help would be appreciated and my budget is on the borders of full time Highschool student and part time worker.

*Edit - Buying any other hardware but a processor isn't an option.

Yes, it's been almost precisely defined Celerons suck with 6600GT's (and gaming for all that matters) .. so I either have to buy a new processor, or return everything.

Well crap, I just found the detailed specs of my mobo and it states "533Mhz FSB" .. so does that mean that's the max it can support, and in that case that will rule that 3.4Ghz P4 out of the picture and it looks like I will have to get a lesser P4.

You can run a 3.4ghz 800mhz fsb CPU in a skt478 that only supports 533mhz. The overclocking potential will be reduced, but performance wise at stock settings you won't notice a difference when running at an 800mhz fsb.
