My buddies Opteron 165 - Page 2

Something's odd here... Why does it show up as a Toledo core, when the Dual Core Opty core's name is Denmark? I realize that the two are essntially the same, but I've never seen CPUZ validation make a mistake like that.

Thread Starter
I think this is a suicide run at the moment, I think he ran 3.0 or 3.1 on Prime for about 12 hours before it crashed on him. That was also without his big dual heater core beastly thing that I saw a picture of. Temps I didn't see anything of, when he posted his info. Same with the Voltage.

quotes from him here
3GHz was 11 and a half hours dual prime stable, then it errored this morning. I tweaked voltage with Special VID and it died after 21 minutes, so the ambient heat (10-15F higher during the day) is making 3GHz unstable, at least @ the voltage I want. I'm going to get my dual radiator into my loop to hopefully fix this. Also, 2.8GHz stock vcore @ ~35C load is dual prime stable for over 27 hours.

And the 2nd
Everyone starts from somewhere, and if you know the stepping of your Opteron, post it here and I can give you some sort of idea as to how it should go. If you got a newer stepping (06xx) then you should be able to do 2.8GHz+. I'll be able to do 3GHz both cores 100% stable, but it's all in how much voltage is required. Also, I'm dual folding (100% on both CPU cores) @ 32C full load. I think that helps out a little bit, and I'm still on my single rad, I can't wait to toss this bad ***** in my loop (oh yeah, water cooling helps).

I was asking him questions during his second quote

Regardless Tsue = my hero

It's considered an Opteron 165. There is no direct Athlon equivilent to the 165, and it is a Denmark, not a Toledo. You don't see Opteron 148s being called San Diegos.

Yep i come from this same Gaming community as Gattzumaul and tsuehpsyde.

The main reason for his success is as follows.

*actual photo taken by tsuehpsyde

Popping off the cap allows access to the core, providing direct cooling.
So in what cooling setups would you removed that cap?? Just for watercooling, or air too? That makes me nervous.
ThaWaxShop took his IHS off, and uses air cooling (TT BT I think).
