Really bad luck OCing........

Thread Starter
Ok........
I have a : 3000+ venice e3 stepping, Asus A8N-SLI mobo, and 2x 512 Patriot TCCD ram 2-2-2-5@200mhz

The problem is...

About 5months ago I fried my Asus-A8N Sli mobo from doing something stupid..I left a PCI card halfway out and the board fried...Anyways, I sent it back for a RMA, and got another Asus mobo...
Well I had it at 2.6ghz stable, with under 200freq ( on the fried mobo ), so I know its capable of 2.6ghz...

The problem is ever since Ive had this new motherboard, I havent been able to OC well at all..this motherboard acts really strage, for example
The other day I looked up on the patriot ram website the freq/timings stable for the ram,
3 days ago it was stable at PC 4200 (533) 3-4-4-8-2T 2.85-2.9v (OFF THE WEBSITE)

I had it running at 266 x 9, which is 2.4ghz, 1:1 3-4-4-8-2T @ 3.0v

I fooled around to see if I could get any higher ocs, and when I went to put the settings back, I was getting unstable results on prime...in under 10 minutes..

About 10 mins ago I went to go see if the RAM was the problem..but it cant be considering I ran 280 x 9 = 2520, @ a 100mhz divider...or 1:2

It shows in CPU-Z :
"Timings"
Frequency: 140.5MHZ
Max Bandwidth : PC3200(200MHz)
Manufacture : 7F7F7F7F7F020000
Correction: None
Register: no
Buffered: no

SPD Timings Table: <~ STOCK SETTINGS (NOT MY SETTINGS)
Frequency: 200 MHz
CAS# Latency : 2.0
RAS# TO CAS # : 2
RAS # PRECHARGE : 2
TRAS# : 5

FSB : DRAM : CPU/18
CAS# LATENCY : 2.5 clocks
RAS# TO CAS# DELAY : 3 clocks
RAS# PRECHARGE : 3 clocks
Cycle Time (Tras) : 8 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (Trc) : 19 clocks
DRAM Idle Timer : 16 clocks

Then I goto "SPD" and it shows for Slot #3, and Slot #4 (2x 512)

Module Size: 512 Mbytes

Im runnning 2.8 vdimm, and 1.525 Voltage

Sounds like a PS issue!
Are your rails stable and up to par?

Concur with Duke, monitor your rails while stressing your computer with a program like OCCT, results with a successful test.

figured it out, my ram went bad for some odd reason...
the ram was just getting worst and worst...went from 2.7 ghz, to 2.6...
then down to 2.4 stable, then 2.4 unstable..then 2.0 unstable...then stock unstable...

thank god I figured out the problem

RMAing

I think perhaps 3.0V was a bit much for that ram? Did you ever check to make sure it wasn't overheating?

TCCD is not appreciative of voltages in excess of 2.7V.
