Question on Sound Card and Headset . . .

Thread Starter
I am quite in debt now from recently getting my new rig, in debt to my father who I will be paying back over the course of the summer.

But I might be able to slip in a few more things without him noticing. I realized that I will just be using the integrated sound from my motherboard, which has never bothered me before, but is there a really big difference using the X-fi cards?? Especially for that kind of money. Also is there any lesser cards that'll give me around the same for sound experience? But the last thing is that I don't have amazing speakers, and it's not really my goal to acquire those either, so is it worth it to get that card without good speakers?

The other thing is I would love an amazing headset. I want one with really good sound (due to my lack of speakers) and has a very good mic for games like BF2 and CS: Source. I would prefer it to be under $80 but what headsets do you guys know of that would work wonderfully and aren't too expensive? Also will the sound card help the sound coming out of a headset as well?

Thanks
Sagitta

A good sound card would be the Turtle Beach Riviera, which costs around $30.

I'd say an Audigy 2 ZS would give you enough quality for not too much money...
People do say that the x-fi is amazing for headphones though....so I don't know.

I don't know much about headphones, other than the fact that Sennheiser, and Logitech make some really good ones.

I think I might get the x-fi in like a week or so and tell my father that I needed one more crucial thing in order for my system to work lol

If you are strapped for cash, get the Audiigy 2 ZS Platinum...I believe www.slickdeals.net lists it for $65 right now.

The X-Fi basic would be around $90-130, depending who you buy it from and is a whole level higher in both quality and cash. Simply put, the X-Fi is an investment for the future and new X-Fi's actually come with heatsinks now.

Your best bet would be to get an Audigy 2 zs or if you really want to go for it get the X-FI.

The X-Fi IS amazing, especially when you use headphones. Certain games just seem to come to life, BF2 shines, as does CoD 2. Just check out the x-Fi demo's, they're on the creative page somewhere.
