Mysterious boot problem

Thread Starter
I've been looking for answers all over and so far I have found nothing that works...

Whenever I power up my desktop computer I get this message after it posts:
"Couldn't open drive multi(0) disk(0) rdisk(0) partition(1)"
"NTLDR: Couldn't open drive multi(0) rdisk (0) partition (1)"

The last time I tried to get an answer to this it was decided that my hard drive died... Well I bought a new one and I get the same message after installing the first part of Windows XP.

So now it can't be the hard drive because I've tried about 4 including a brand new one.

If anyone knows how to fix this or has an suggestions i'll take them
