What's the consensus on the High Current Gamer 750? It's on sale both locally at MC and on the Egg right now. I'm considering upgrading. It would match my case theme perfectly for one, but secondly I'm slightly concerned about my HX 650 now that I added another 6950. I was told by some I'd be fine and by others I wouldn't. So i flashed them back to 6950 (was 6970's) until I figure things out. The HX 650 is supposedly underated at 650 so I'm wondering if the jump to a 750W PSU specifically this one would be worth it.

Thanks for looking. Also kinda hesitant at the Bronze rating. I know it's not bad, but it's not Gold.

The difference between a 6950 and an unlocked 6950 is very minimal. Before you buy a PSU you don't need, buy one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882715001

And be amazed at how much less power you use than you think you do. My 3GHz c2q rig (see glados in sig) pulls 300W at the wall (250w ish DC) while maxed out folding. while folding cpu and furmarking it pulls around 400w at the plug(around 350W DC). there's room for another GPU in that power budget, especially if you don't run furmark 24/7...

I've got a HCG750W, been going strong 24/7 for the last year now, even stuck it inside my new build!

I used to be a happy Antec owner, until recently. My Antec TP-550w, which was just around 10 months old started making ticking sounds (coming from the PSU fan), and since it was still covered by Antec's 3 year warranty, I sent an email to their tech support team.

The tech support team was fast and I got a reply from the in just over 24 hours. But since their tech support team is another country halfway across the world, they'd have to refer me and forward my request to the local dealer here. Long story short, I got to talk to the dealer just ONCE, and he never contacted me again after that. I emailed tech support again and even the tech support guy couldn't get any reply from the local dealer anymore.

I refuse to believe that such a respected, well-known, and established brand would do such a thing. Refusal to honor the warranty is usually a problem with small, no-name companies but I haven't had any problems with major manufacturers with warranty claims, until now...

Anyway, I was very disappointed and pissed because in 27 days, I've sent probably more than a dozen emails and a whole lot more text messages but got no reply. Calling the phone number the dealer used to contact me didn't work either. Coursing my communications through their main office didn't work either. What else am I supposed to do?

So because of that incident and I'm never buying Antec again. I'm posting this, not to discredit Antec. I still believe that Antec makes very good PSUs, but the bad part is that their dealer here in the Philippines doesn't entertain warranty claims. After waiting for almost a month, in the end I still had to buy a new PSU to replace the defective unit. I now have the defective Antec on my bookshelf and it's now used as a bookend, a very expensive bookend.

I'll just keep it there to remind me to check with local dealers first before buying something.

If you've read this post up to here, thank you very much. If ever you also run into something that would require you to contact them and you're located in the Philippines, at least you know what to expect from them.

Oh, BTW, if anyone doubts my story, I can send screenshots of my emails or give you the ID number of my support ticket (or Trouble Ticket, as they call it) ... smile.gif
