Unfortunately there is no stress test that will show if your card is folding stable.
It has been my experience that OCing the memory does very little, or nothing at all, to improve PPD performance, but can make your card folding unstable with even a mild 50 to 100 mhz memory OC.
I recommend leaving your memory at stock speed, running the GPU voltage up as high as your cooler will allow, then start working the OC up by 5-10 mhz every couple of days.
Once you get an "UNSTABLE_MACHINE" error, back the OC down to the last known stable speed and let it run at that.
I'd also highly recommend rebooting your machine after a failed WU, especially if there was also a driver crash that Windows recovered from.
It may take weeks to arrive at your maximum folding stable OC, but doing it the way I described will minimize the number of failed WU's you have.
Be sure to pay attention to what work units you are getting when looking at your PPD.
Currently there are 3 types of WU's being assigned to "Fermi" cards.
The best are the 5757 point work units, p8018, p8019, and p8020. They are likely what you are getting your high(for a 680) PPD numbers on.
Next best are the 2510 point work units, p8005, p8006, p8007, p8008, p8009, and p8010.
The worst are the 5187 point work units, p252x
With my GTX580 there is about a 10k ppd difference between the best and the worst work units.
Currently the folding client isn't optimized for your 680, so it will struggle to keep up with a decently overclocked GTX470 or 560 Ti.
Since your 680 has twice as many cores as a 580, it isn't unreasonable to expect that a 680 will blow away a 580 if they ever come out with an optimized client for it.
If that happens, I'd expect to see Kepler GPU's booted out of the Fermi category though.
For reference, my 580 does 30k ppd on p80xx WU's, 23k on the p800x WU's, and 20-21k on the p252x WU's.Edited by Caleal - 8/8/12 at 10:56pm
