Mother board problem (need help)

Thread Starter
I have a Lanparty Ultra-D and after my bro touched the inside of my case my motherboard grounds out so I been running it outside my case in order to get it to boot and work. I have checked all around my motherboard and even cut off the screws from my xp90 heatsink bracket but it still grounds out. It also won't boot with my Soundblaster audigy plugged into the pci slot. I have tried clearing the cmos but no flashing the bios. Anywho I need help and suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Well it may not be just a grounding out Issue i cant think what could be grounding it if your not in a case but i have a feeling its gotten a dose of ESD ( Electro static Discharge )

Ive had no probs with mine but ive "heard" that some of the bios chips are dodgy.Disable the onboard sound in bios.
I dont know what you mean by grounds out.Ive ever heard the term before.

>>>how much power does your soundblaster need?.

Earths out. i.e there is a short circuit between the motherboard and the case.

Yeah sorry if I wasn't so clear... My comp works... just not inside either of my two cases and not with my audigy sound card in. I know its a grounding issue cause it works outside of my case. I though about a static discharge but wouldn't that fry it completely?

Are any of the insulation coatings around the screw holes damaged?.
Seems its grounding, is it possible for the psu to ground the mobo.

Uhm none of the hole coatings are damaged as far as I can tell. Im not sure if a psu can ground out a mobo but I even tried switching mine but it still won't work inside my case.

When it comes to ESD no it wont generally completely Kill the motherboard but will damage parts of it.
