I've the very same board, I also had trouble overclocking with it first of all

But with help and a bit of fiddling I've clocked my Opteron 144 from 1.8ghz to 2.4ghz (temp at full load for allday, only reached 39c, with Artic Cooler 64 Pro)

I took the HT freqeuncy down too 1x, I left the K8 CPU at x9 but I did increase the CPU voltage from 1.4v too 1.45

I also got some better Ram (without this I had no chance) I got some Crucial Ballistix 2x 512 4000 DDR500 and upped the voltage by +1. the system is rock steady with no problems
