upgrade to 7900GT :D... but the ebay seller hasn't shipped for 4 days

Hey, I know that 7800 series cards are in slim pickings these days as Nvidia stopped making them and only 7900 series cards being made. And since people are looking to SLI their cards I was considering selling my evga 7800GT CO and going w/ a 7900GT. however, I have heard some complaints that these cards can't do both hdr and aa at the same time and their picture quality isn't as good as the ati cards and so forth...

Since I wasn't planning on upgrading my gfx card till dx10 comes out can someone help bring me up to speed on these issues? thanks.

The 7900GT is amazing. the new beta drivers solve the No AA and HDR problem, and with a very easy voltmod, you can get insane overclocks out of them. (Sideburns has his core speed at 695MHz) They are a little bit better than the 7800GTX at stock, and can probably reach 7900GTX performance.

well that was exactly my thought. My monitor only displays 1280 x 1024 max so my 7800GT can handle that w/o any problems. There's not even a need for me to get a second for SLI. I was planning on holding up for dx10 and vista... then I'd get a new monitor that could display the HD video and a dx10 card.

but I've been seeing 7800GT's in mint condition w/ box and accessories go for around 300+ and you can get a 7900GT for that. That was my only thought. maybe I could help someone on the forum get a second 7800GT in mint condition and upgrade for basically no cost to me. Am I crazy here?

Not crazy. If you can pick up a 7900gt for little to no cost, by all means get it. It'll have a lot higher resale when DX10 cards come out.

Nope, sounds like a win-win situation. They get a second card for SLI, you get a pretty much free upgrade.

Honestly, I guess I would sell my SLi 7800gt's w/ arctic coolers and pick up a 7900GTX. I wish you only needed 62 reps to post in the for sale section.
