hallo I started overclocking yesterday and things r pretty good... i postred yesterday here http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/85...erclock-2.html
asking few questions about tming dividers etc...unfortunaly i still can`t break the 267fsb i really need some help i dunno wat i can do now to reach certain clocks .. i preferred to continue here on a new post instead of using the other thread...

thx for u r help

ohhh before i forget...to start overclocking i used a guide on the internet for my motherboard
http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/a8n3...e-vt65243.html

i still don`t understand wat SB>NB Frequency SB>NB Linkwidth: 16/16
K8>NB Linkwidth: 16/16 etc... are dunno wat they eman and i left them like that

then on the other thread (the first link i gave u) i asked wat htt multiplier is..i think that that is the problem... thx all

bye

NB = North Brigbe, SB is the South ... The Chip(s) manage the MB. Default is fine
The problem with starting a new post is all the information in the first won't be considered by most an you will get a lot of duplicated information.
We may have to combine the posts.

Since your htt bus is running at 289 mhz, and the default multi is 5x, then your effective htt clock would be 1445 which is way too high. So you need to lower it to 4x or 3x so that it's closer to the specified 1000mhz. The htt multi setting should be something that you can change from 200mhz to 1000mhz in 200mhz increments.

289mhz??? where did u get thta from?? wta is htt? where do i find it in the bios?? is the multiplier 5x too high? whihc one is it? is the SB>NB Multiplier that one?

then when its at 3x or 4x for example i can continue to increase the fsb right ?

i m sry for asking so many questions but i read most of the threads in this forum and i really dont understand some things

My mistake that was abelzx's overclock.

Yes, if you lowered the htt multi you may be able to continue to o'clock your fsb. On your mobo, the default hyper transport speed is 1000 mhz. This is because your fsb is multiplied by the default htt multi of 5. If you exceed 1000mhz by too much, your system will be unstable. Therefore, lowering the htt multi to 4x or 3x can help you achieve a better overclock.

In addition, increasing the voltage of your motherboard can help you achieve a higher htt bus speed. But, increasing voltages will increase temperatures and could threaten the life of your mobo. I assume you're using Asus probe? Well, the "MB" temperature reading is the temperature of your motherboard, so keep an eye on that.

There is no one size fits all and this method is a poor way in which to teach someone how to overclock.

This is a dangerous comment here and I would advise anyone reading this thread not to follow the above advice. Note that Compfreak is running on water.

Thank you Ropey! Compfreak, changing settings that quick is a good way to burn your components, or corrupt your Operating System, or both.

Now, Kiwi you still haven't got an answer as to what exactly HTT is...It stands for Hyper Transport Technology, and it has replaced AMD's need for a fsb...Here's a thread on it if you're still kinda confused:
http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/85...ort+technology

Any1 else care to explain HTT?
