Code:
 ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8756.pkg1.run
you type

Code:
 sudo ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8756.pkg1.run
sounds like somebody was impatient and didnt want to learn Linux
Yeah.. Why the heck should I have to learn that to just install a program.. Just a little ridiculous to me. I think all the security and speed you get on Linux based OS's is just hype from people blurting it out/people having bad experiences with virus's ..

I hate how MS is planning to force everyone to get Vista. XP is fine, uses half the resources and best of all it is HDCP free.

I think there will be a market for a Linux distro that can be fully automatically installed, similar (but better) than a Windows installation. People who don't know any commands will be open to Linux that way. People who want an operating system to just run their PC for normal everyday use (excluding games) would be more than happy with a Linux system that is easy to use.

For those who want to tinkier with their Linux, there are plenty other distros

Of course I'll probably need to get Vista to run the latest games...but I have a program called Cedega which will run almost any Windows XP game in Linux, I installed UT2004 (which is a Linux compatible game) with it but I entered my CD key wrong, lol so I can't verify how well it works but according to my friend it will run just the same as on Windows but with a very small performance hit (not that I care, look at what kind of machine I have lol).
Awesome! It's working good then? You have the subscription thing, or CVS, or the 15 day trail? I never got the trial to work in 5.10, so I obviously wasn't going to pay for it.

I am kind of scared. Xorg just 'updated' my ati drivers. Wonder what's gonna happen

Ubuntu fulfills those requirments. It was just as easy or easier to install than Win XP, for me at least. If more people migrate to it then it will get even better support from 3rd parties and the like.

When will the day come we need dedicated operating systems for different applications:
Vista (DX10) for games

Simple, if you have an HDCP monitor and try to play any protected content, it simply will not be visible on the screen, thats why MS has to FORCE us to get those monitors since no one in their right mind would do it of their own inkling

My god there seems to be alot of conflicting info flying about...

In some PS2 magazine i spotted UT2007.. In there they were trying to put forward the idea that some of the levels were just too much for `the average pc` and were to be developed for ps3 ONLY!
wot a load of old bollox,
If what I read on here is true that itll be dx10 and vista only for ut2007 then
the idea that the ps3 will be loads more powerfull than your `average` vista ready pc is laughable

talking about ram, ddr? ddr2? wot about the new improved rambus memory(supposedly gonna be in the ps3) looks loads faster than anything about now..

Marketing Marketing Marketing...

"average PC" can mean a lot of things. Sony likely refers to a currently available middle-of-the road Dell (600/800 series P4, 1GB ram, ATI Radeon X600, ~$1,000 box), to make the PS3 look better without lying.

The "average PC" on this forum looks a tad different, likely same processor (or AMD equivalent), RAM 1 or 2 GB, but Video significantly better than x600 (I'd guess on average X800 series on the ATI side and 6800/7800 series on the nVidia side).

The "average PC" for Vista.. DX10 card says it all. By that time, likely Conroe.

PS3? Nay
