Laptron FC-5 V2 bent parts

I just recently bought said fan controller and one of the parts (don't know what it is called) was bent around 45 degrees and was touching an adjacent resistor. I thought it looked weird and so I bent it back so it can be perpendicular to the PCB. Now I am worried that it will get the metal weak and break if not careful. Was that a manufacture QC problem? Should I have left it alone? Was is "that" anyway? I have attached a picture.

i'm not 100% sure, but i believe thats a heatsink. if it's not broken it should be fine!

Call up Frozen (assuming you bought it from there) and get em to replace it, tell them it was damaged during shipping and you shouldn't have to pay for returning it.

Yeah, but I personally would like to have something that isn't broken when I receive it, just saying.

If you don't see any need then keep it, nothing should happen especially if it's working fine right now.

I can't ask hem if it was bent because it was sealed so he would have no way of knowing.

I'm pretty sure its the channel voltage regulator.



If you bent it back and it works then your OK. If it's lose in any way or broken at the solder point then the channel would not work.

Hey thanks! Yeah I bent it back and everything works. Do they often come bent like that? Should I just have left it alone?
