New sticks/ Timing question

Thread Starter
My new OCZ Platinum pc2 6400's (2 x 1gb) are at my house waiting on me. My question is this: If running a 1:1 divider, My current 667 memory is running underclocked. My new 800 mhz stuff will be closer to my motherboards capability of 667 mhz. If I am able to run higher than 667 on the new ram, will it affect anything considering the mobo is rated to 667mhz? Also, Will I bea able to lower the timings, considering I'm underclocking the memory.

I am currently overclocking my system to 250fsb from 200fsb.

With DDR2 667 you'd be fine running at 3:5 ratio with the stock timings and with DDR2 800 then you're talking about a 1:2 ratio but if you're going to use a 1:1 why did you bother with the DDR2 800? There will not be a significant difference from 1:1 with DDR2 667 or with DDR2 800.

As for timings? You could get both to to 4-3-3-8 at 250fsb on a 1:1 ratio but some can handle the 3-2-2-8 @ 2.1v, depending on the RAM I'd say try that.

I deciced to upgrade My mobo too. I installed a P5WD2-E premium. On the old Mobo, I couldn't get any better than 1:1 with any significant OC, On the Asus, I can get 1:2 or 3:4, and stay in the 4Ghz range. Heat is my problem now. I used to get max temps of 49°c at full load (occt torture, prime 95 and FAH) now I'm idling there and just Fah i'm up to 57-58°c right away.
