That's what I got...we probably have the same TV. Cept I have the 50". I love it so much. HD tv rocks...but it's expensive as hell. Good for GT4 though...lol

LCDs can still get glare too but usually it comes in a form of fuzz on the screen where you'll see the surface of the LCD and not a white streak and typically happens with the sun and not indoor lights

Plasma = glass glare
LCD = hardly any glare

I actually have a direct light into my LCD now and I cannot see it but spend the extra money and get an LCD so you dont have ot worry about the glare issue and the burn issue
The glarey part is meant to improve picture quilty at the cost of glare

Also:
LCD Pros
Small models are cheaper than plasmas (if you know how to buy TVs)
Good all-around
Very bright
LCD Cons
Ghosting when playing games
Large models can be more expensive
Plasma Pros
Best picture quility
Most are more expensive
Good for most games
Excellent for TV
Plasma Cons
Can "Burn-in". Horriable for games that have a HUD

Btw, I personaly like Rear-projection TVs

Edit: a lot of genenic brands are really brand names in disguse. It may be manufactered under a brand name company, or it can orgin from the same Chiense factory

I'd rather have a little less picture quality than glare since glare is REALLY annoying

Originally, plasma TVs did have better picture quality than LCD, but due to recent innovations such as TFT, LCD screens now have the better quality. But that higher quality does come at a price.

Why aren't you considering a DLP? 1080p all the bell's and whistles. I just set one up for my Dad. 62" top of the line and it looks better all round than the LCD counterpart, that were more money more incidence of repairs and DLP's light array last a couple years longer.

Was I missing something when I compared or what? He just bought it last week maybe he can get the LCD if I was sure that the difference was obviously supreme?

Excuse me for throwing this out there, but I gotta know LCD vs. DLP & why?
