All AA works with blurring and blending. It's just that since MLAA doesn't have edge detect (to save resources), it blurrs everything not only polygone edges. It kind of remembers me of film grain.

Also see the SSAA link I just posted and look at the difference

In some games AA or this i not good to use. For example Cysis looks better wit no AA if you play in high resolutions because it seem more realistic. If i apply 8AA in Crysis it make its look less real.

Yea, IMO this(MLAA) creates an overall worse image quality. Smooth the edges, not the entire picture!

Yeah I've noticed that too. Maybe it's the lack of geometry complexity in that game.

I think lifesis mod plus MLAA would probably look amazing on the right hardware. Only thing holding back the visuals with that mod imo was the fact all the transparent foliage got huge jaggies depending on the resolution. MLAA would be great for any games set outside/in jungle/etc.

games with emphasis on urban or man-made, hard edged objects look really meh with MLAA though.

Does this work 5xxx series normally or only with that patch that came out? For that matter, would it work with the 4xxx series?

A grainy image will stay grainy, no matter the surroundings. You don't want to use too much blurring on an image (at least I don't).

True, but I still think there's some promise in this (nasty transparent foliage in games drives me nuts).

Also, this would be great for revisiting some older games where AA isn't an option and other forms of AA look like @!#$ (I've run into a few of these).

Of course MLAA is profitable, why would they use it for consoles f it weren't. It's just that there are far better ways of applying blurring in games. CFAA even gives you better image quality. I like that it's API independant and all, but for the games that already support AA there are better methods.

If I may suggest a game. Start with GTA IV. It should be a good one with MLAA

Never tried it on pc, heard its fairly punishing at maxed settings though. Now that I think about it, I suppose MLAA wouldn't be a bad choice on most console ports (assuming they haven't been optimized for pc with decent textures/AF/good AA support)

Dude you have an i7. GTA IV loves i7s. The game is taxing for my system since I own a C2Q and not GPU dependant.
