PCI bus at 101MHz?
my 760 really blows...I cant get it anywhere..

for the last half year ive been runing it at:
-172x21(3620mhz)
-cpu 1.256v
-imc 1.205v (I could probably lower this one ...imc doesnt do much for me)
-dram 1.44v (7-8-7-24 @ 1724MHz)
with intel burn test i get around 68°c on load
my ambients are around 26-28°c
------------------------------------------------------------------------
any overclocking higher then that requires a lot more core voltage and as a result provides hotter temperatures

I did some quick tests today
183x20(3672) ... worked ok with above voltages
187x20(3740) ... required 1.27v @ load 69°c
195x20(3900) .... required 1.32v @ load 73°c
200x20 ....required 1.34v @ load 75°c (and this wasnt even stavble)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
after all that testing i just reverted all back to my previous settings

does anyone else have such a crapy chip? I think my setup isnt that bad
but those temps and voltages are just blah....

I once owned another 760chip ...which was great voltage wise ...it could ran 3600-3800 at 1.15v but any voltage increase or higher clock then that resulted the same ...temps over the roof
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
idle temps now are around 38-40°c
and im sure cooler is seated properly (did it 3 or 4 times, and temps were always the same)

My 760 needed about the same, maybe even more...

I ran it at 4.0 (200x20) with 1.376v.

I was on H2o so it maxed out around 68 - 70c full load...

Intel has thermal shutdown set around 95c to prevent damage. I think if 73 - 76c was going to damage your cpu they would have it set lower...

Keep vcore below 1.40 and IBT temps below 80c and I'd say your good to go...

Unfortunately some cpu's just need more voltage than others....

I'm in the process of overclocking my i5-760

Its my first overclocking attempt, and I must admit that it really is quite addictive

Wait til you get it all set up and running fast, it wears off after a month or two and you will start looking at what to upgrade so you can feed the addiction..

Thats why I'm first going for a nice stable 3800, then after a month or two I will go for 4000

I will at least keep the addiction satisfied for a while

and then comes dry ice and ln2 cooling.

I think we need a poll...

Who thinks Eagna will be pushing for 4.0 before the end of the month?

Dont worry tho, its a fun addiction....

You are probably right!

I'm just struggling to stabilise my memory at the moment, so that is really holding me back right now

Go Here - http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem and fill out your system specs... Kick back and stay a while

What are your bios settings? IE voltages, mem devider, timings...

General rule of thumb is to put ram at or below default and get best OC from the cpu...

CPU Mhz are more important..
