1.3v at stock settings isn't good. Update BIOS, Clear CMOS, set optimized defaults and check it again. If it's still loading stock at 1.3v I wouldn't be too happy. Within spec but just not likely to be much of a overclocker. Of course you won't know until you try it and it just might run 4.2 at stock voltage... What are your load temps like ?

Load Temps under heaving gaming for a few hours is about 47 to 48 degrees celcius. I will reflash the bios, run complete defaults and let you know the outcome in my next post.

Are you using the latest revision on CPU-Z (if that's what's giving off the 1.3v)? I've seen older versions misreading vcore even on Lynnfields, not just SBs

I reflashed the bios and now under load the voltage is about 1.288v with the newest version of CPU-Z. I do have EIST and Turbo boost enabled. should i disable it?

Stock with EIST on it should idle at a lower voltage than it loads. I'd say run Prime 95 to get your load voltage but you should probably try checking it with some smaller loads first just to be on the safe side of things since it's idling so high. Gaming temps seems fine but realize that doesn't compare to actual 100% load temps with the likes of Prime 95.

Are you wanting to Overclock it. If so and everything looks ok but just a little on the high side under load at stock then there really isn't any reason why you couldn't as long as you watch the temps. Just find that stock load voltage, lock it in and see how far you can push your clocks at stock voltage then go from there.

I will run Prime 95 for five minutes while i watch my temps and give you the load voltage there.

Yes i am wanting to overclock. What should range should i keep an eye out for as a danger zone for this model cpu?

Keep temps under 80C, Vcore under 1.4v. but usually temps will get you first. I'm heading off but you might want to check the short little guide I wrote back on page 2. http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...l#post11209942. Hopefully that will help you get started. If not I'm sure there will be others around to answer questions for you.

61C is a little high for stock but not for the voltage. I've seen here on OCN before CPU's that had a high stock voltage and vcore a little high for 4.0 but ran rather cool for the voltage so I wouldn't sweat it too much unless the temps start getting out of control when you start pushing the baseclock up.

How is your overclock coming along ?

Thanks for +1 !

I have one of those bad chips aswell ....load stock settings, disable c states, speedstep, turbo and ull get your default VID ....mine is 1.28v

u need good cooling for overclocking this suckers ><
but imo u should get it to 3.6Ghz with default VID

Im running 200x18 1.28v ..max load in ibt is 73°c
