Hey guys! I am new to CPU overclocking so I would like to start on a safe side. I would wanna keep all the power saving features (Speedstep, C1E..) and run at stock voltage. What max Ghz should I expect with my rig? Thanks in advance!

well with stock, i easily managed 3.5ghz but did not really test it thoroughly. so try 3.4ghz and test with IntelBurnTest and prime 95 to make sure its stable, then, if no problems have occured, up the multi once and test again.

hope it helps.

sizzle i have a similar mobo cept its the sli version instead of the ftw version. I tried to OC with settings similar to ones that you posted on the first page, cept with higher voltage at 1.375v and vtt at 1.35 and can't seem to get it stable. usually core 3 is unstable saying the rounding error. I'm not sure what to change besides the vcore and bclck

right now heres my settings
190 x 21 = 3990mhz
vcore = 1.375
dimm voltage = 1.5v
vtt = 1.35v

i turned speedstep and all those off like you had in your post on the first page with the screeny

prime 95 at the above settings says 1.341v sometimes 1.352v
it fails prime95 because of the rounding error, could it be i need to raise my dimm voltage? its meant to be at 1600mhz at 1.5 v so not sure if thats an issue

I've seen people have to raise that 1.5v dimm voltage up a bit a few times now so it wouldn't suprise me at all if that is causing you problems. Pretty sure this post will help you out a little more than anything I posted on the first page . http://www.overclock.net/11209942-post12.html

If you want post a template of your current settings and I can take a look at it and see if I can catch any other red flags sticking out.

Sorry I'm slow getting back to you.

All looks pretty good. How long is it going before it drops a core ? Having no experience with the lower voltage RAM I'd say raise it up a bit to rule it out just because I've seen others have to do it. Really though in my experience if it drops one core in prime 10+ minutes in but keeps on rolling with 3 it has just been a matter of vcore being a little too low. I had the same trouble trying to get 4.4 stable but by the time I added the voltage needed to get it stable my temps were getting too high during prolonged testing.

Might suggest making a smaller jump. Maybe lower the baseclock down a bit and get ~3.8 stable and see where your at. Then very slowly raising the baseclock up a little at a time testing and adjusting for stability every step of the way.

Well it is stable right now at 3.95 with decent temps. When I had the ram voltage on auto it was at 1.56 or something so that might be the cause of instability, it usually loses a core around 5 minutes or so if that, but it can keep going i think but im not sure because I stop testing after i see it loses a core. I guess more voltage and up the ram voltage a little? because it gives me the rounding error i when it loses a core
