Assuming you tried raising the DRAM Voltage. It's your stuff but I wouldn't be scared to raise it as far as 1.65v.

I'm sorry I should have stayed on top of this. I've just had my hands pretty full lately. I'm going to take a 2nd look at the template you posted awhile back. If it's not the same as your current setting just post your current settings here.

How far have you tried to push the VTT ?

Maybe some of the other experienced P55 overclockers can jump in here and between them and myself we can get you up to that magical 4.0. Just keep in mind that these CPU's are all their own beasts and it might just be a case of that it just isn't going to happen, at least not with temps you could live with. Also 3.95 vs 4.0 .... meh

My 760 sucks, lol. I'm struggling to maintain 4Ghz at 1.35V.

Hey guys, just wondering if there is anything I need to know before I start overclocking.

I'll be following the guide.. 3 Step Overclocking guide - Lynnfield
I'm also wondering if it's worth upgrading my ram to 1600 instead of the 1333 that I have now...

Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated..please check my sig for system specs

Cheers

Hope you got a good one. Also, I'd hang onto the ram.

Having some troubles...

I can get 4.0ghz@1.38V (in bios, it's lower in cpu-z)

But I'm having troubles pushing it higher. When I stress test, the multiplier drops from 21 to 9, I think it's something Intel has that is throttling the cpu to prevent damage.

Any ideas on how to get rid of it?
What are your temps getting to?

Intel has thermal throttling on the chips multiplier, if it gets above a safe temperature (not sure what its set at) it will drop the multiplier down to try and reduce the temperature.

~73-74 degrees with a H212+

Ensure that all of the power saving features are disabled, these can often cause havoc when overclocking.

^ It's definitely a lot easier to get to 4Ghz stable without all that. But my space gets hot FAST. And a 60 watt CPU vs a 10 watt CPU does make a difference.
