4Ghz @ 1.232V?! I need 1.375 to hit 4Ghz. How can one chip be SOOOO much worse than another?

What's your IMC @ for 4Ghz?

Edit: NM, I see. 75C though? Really hot ambient?

I got 5184.75 MHz with 1.611 vcore on my i5 760...
Still holding the #1 spot on hwbot too..

My c6 state problems are gone, I think windows updates are to thank.

@Jodiuh, well dude people are running 4Ghz at quite low volts, mine f.e, Core @ 1.22v, Imc @ 1.3v, qpi is 3610 in cpuz, and my brother with the same board and cpu, is running at same speeds, with Core @ 1.23v, Imc @ 1.3v. Both our temps never hit 70, we've got aircooling too, and I've seen even lower volts too, my temps are good, never compared to others really.

Laughing at that 1.6 vcore.

Interesting. I've never used more than 1.2 on the IMC. Thanks, Ill give that a go! +1 repped!

My last good chip was an E8400 I personally picked out of a pile from Frys. They had VIDs on the label at that time. It hit 4.5 Ghz on quiet air.

Seems that I cant push much higher than 4.2 with my current board/chip. My temperatures are fine, but i'm blue screening/linpack erroring about 5 mins into IBT or prime95. Voltages should be plenty for that kind of clock.

4.2ghz @ 1.375v isnt stable. i dont want to go higher until i get my maximus iii

@lock, why try go to 4.2? The amount of voltage needed wouldn't be worth it, to be honest, I've though about going down a little, just so that I can even less volts and temps.

@Jodiuh, never seen an i-5 760 with much lower than 1.3imc.
I had an e5200(got robbed, lost 2 rigs, South Africa sucks), on stock e2100 hs(was better than my stock e5200 for some reason) with a really hardcore thermaltake fan(that I got from a thermaltake subzer4g for my old athlon, it came in a box that said "6000 RPM FAN" wow that thing made noise), I got 4ghz, the volts weren't increased much(I never increase volts much), hit 67'c running prime on a msi p45 neo3-fr and some kingston hyperx's, and I just went to pick up a 2.5 expecting to do 3.6 if I was lucky.

He could RMA... I mean, seriously, I got my board for dirt cheap, I got an RMA in 2 weeks.

I just studied everything about the proper overclocking with the new bios and i'm still stumped. Maybe i'm just not used how the new bios is. I feel like a douche and a noob. I know this processor has room to overclock and i never have. I'm just frustrated as it is and i have no idea if i'll have to keep replacing TIM after every test cuz i really like the tim my cooler came with and it's been perfect ever since.

Either i should pull the trigger and test it or just best leave it alone and get some faster ram to clock XMP lol.
