Hey folks, I'm currently running my 760 at 4.2 GHz with 1.3vcore on water. What do you guys consider to be your max vcore for 24/7 stable systems? How high is it safe to push it?

1.4v is the highest I'd take mine for 24/7 use IF I could keep it cool. Pushed it to 1.55v for a few superpi runs without ill effect.

So ok, either my ambient temps are too high, the stock cooler is crap, or there is something wrong with my CPU. Got my PC a year ago, specs as below :

i5 760
Asus P55D-E LX
GTX 460
8GM 1333MHz RAM

Been reading tons of pages here, but at 138 pages it's just a little too much to read >.<<br />
I live in Malaysia, where daytime temps go from 31-35 Celcius and about 26-28 Celcius at night.

I've tried overclocking, and I've gotten stable 3.6GHz easily, but the temps are really really high.

Heck, even at default BIOS settings, IBT kick my temps into the mid 90's Celcius at Standard stress setting..

Idle temps at stock is about 45 Celcius, Gaming is about 70.

ye8Ua.png

Got 3 case fans. One side fan, one front intake and 1 back exhaust. All 120mm. Got space for 2 more 120mm fans at the top but that doesn't seem to make any difference cos right now I have my PC on its side, side open and the ambient temp around my CPU isn't that hot, and not something that would raise my temps that high.

Is this just normal, or is something wrong?

Crappy stock cooler. Shouldn't even attempt to overclock or stress test with it.

+1

Also, a lot of us have prefer to keep the home cool, like 22~24C. That's going to make a huge difference compared to your 36.

guys,.. he said it runs hot even at stock setting with stock cooler.. i reckon its something wrong with the contact between cpu and cooler,.. SamfisherAnD, try to reseat and reapply thermal paste if u have time.. honestly, its also pretty hot where i live, right now about 29-32c but my wife's 2500K never touch 65c with stock cooler (no overclock, HT on)... your delta to tjunction is high, more than 50c (idle 40ish with 90ish load)

or.. buy Hyper 212+ and call it a day thumb.gif

happy new year
