hey alwrath, i suggest you use real temp / core temp. I rely more on them since they give me higher results. Since you're nearing 85c i suggest you should rely on the higher temp readings just to be safe...

Thanks for the advice bro, I might switch to try it out. Looks like 4.2 ghz wasent stable, Prime95 stopped working after an hour, so I backed down to 4.1 ghz and left prime95 on last night. 10 hours prime95 stable! I think im gtg with this for my 24/7!

^^^^That's a very good overclock Alwrath. I hope to do as well when i get my i5 760 next week. I will be running it on a gigabyte P55 board. I am sure I will be back here asking to join and hopefully getting some good advice from the veterans here.

Thanks----Denny

As I am now in the possession of a i5-760 I thought i would see if anybody in this club could help me with my overclock.
Most system specs are listed under my system.
I should note that i have a NZXT Phantom case on the way for better cooling.

But I am trying to get my i5 OC'd to 4.2. I have managed 4 GHz just fine. But anything further and it just doesn't seem to work. If you need to know anything about the processor mobo memory etc let me know. I have tried upping the voltage with not much success. It's currently unstable at 4.2 with 1.34 vCORE but thats in the bios if i look in cpuz it reads 1.288 and will sometimes fluctuate. Are there any settings that i should disable. I have disabled speedstep, cpu spread and pci spread spectrums load line calibration is disabled. C1E support, intel virtualization tech, cpu tm function, and intel c-state tech are all disabled.

Anything wrong with any of this other than voltage. I know thats kinda high.
Finally an i7

Hey guys

Just got my i5 760 + Asus P7P55D-E Pro and Some GSKILL Ripjaws about 4 days ago.

Here is my latest stable overclock 3.8ghz

Batch Number : L025

Ambient : 20 °C

Voltages:

CPU Vcore : 1.29 The Lowest Vcore i could get stable
IMC/VTT: 1.20
BCLK: 190
Multiplier : x20
CPU PLL: 1.80
PCH: Auto
DRAM: 1.52

Dembo1305, it is very important to have load line calibration enabled when you overclock, that is why your voltage is low in cpuz, Vdroop is the cause. I too went from 4 ghz to 4.2 ghz and it didnt work out, so try exactly what I did : hit 195 Bclk, 21 multi. Start from 1.3 vcore, and test for stability. Keep raising the voltage a little bit till you find stability ( 10 - 12 hours prime95 stable ). 4.1 ghz is an awsome overclock, dont be surprised if you cant do 4.2. Also, since your ram will be at 1560 mhz, you can try and loosen the timings on the mushkin ram you got there. My ram went from 6-8-6-24 to 6-7-6-24 for example. Hope this post helps.

I suggest you go back to 4Ghz and enable LLC. be sure to set your DRAM frequency to lowest(x6). Work your way up(inc vcore and qpi) from there. CPU-Z reports that actual voltage. You see lower voltages because the system is idle--vdroop effect. A .01-.02v difference between idle and load is normal.

I can get up to 3.9Ghz with that vcore. try increasing your VTT to 1.25-1.27v
Please also use prime95 in your stability test. Blend 3hours would be fine. IBT 20x max is not always reliable.

Ok well i'll address the voltage real quick. I was reading cpuz while i was running prime95. So thats why it bothered me.

On my memory, the ram i bought is rated for 1600 mhz with 7-8-7-24 timings. so i thought that if i could have them close to their rated speeds that would be good. I didn't think that could hinder my overclock.

Also just to help me try and figure things out better. What would cause prime95's first worker to stop working but all the others can keep going forever? I want them to all work forever but I dunno what would cause the instability so that i can fix it.?
