I dunno but what motherboard you got? you really need to not join forums and not even display any information you have running or we cannot help you. Welcome to OCN and i really hate it when newbies join and they don't even flat out tell us more what they running.

list your system specs and hope you stay here to learn more about overclocking.

Actually, those of us who have been here for awhile tend not to jump on the newcomers. Instead we try to lend a friendly hand and maybe throw a link out there in order to be more helpful.....just sayin.

is this normal? i just used the 3 steps guide in the op, so all the other stuff such as vtt voltage is based off of that

i'm doing 20x200. also i have ripjaws 1600, so it adds nicely that my memory is at 1600 now right? using 2:8 ratio. do i need to do memory timings or anything?

thanks!!!!!
try using 190x21 it may give you more headroom for cpu vcore. I just made a note on the op you mentioned. Please see the first post. yes 87c is high.

Sounds as though we have the same mobo and processor which sometimes helps. I have little evidence to back me up but maybe you should try 21x190 or 191. Sometimes you can hit a wall with your BCLK although 200 shouldn't be too high. also make sure you have all the energy settings disabled.
Try to keep voltage as low as possible although its not unheard of to have a high voltage for cpu. don't go over 1.4

i am not listing you in the club since you posted very little info on your cpu and it's not even overclocked but underclocked. That's why it's an OC club not a UC club.

hm, how would that affect my memory? would it be okay to go above 1600 for my ram if i go 21

also i was wondering if 87 is too high for intelburntest max. when i play sc2, my temps only go up to around 55 or so, i'm not sure what would even cause my comp to go that high (hence the stress test), and if it did, i'd just shut down my comp

oh also twice i got a random coloring glitch in sc2, but i alt tabbed out and back in and it was fine. what could be the cause of that?

Hope this qualifies

Also ran memtest for 12 hours, 0 errors, Prime95 small FFT for 12 hours, no worker failures and Prime95 for large blend 12 hours, no errors.

Tried 191 bclk x 21 but there seems to be a memory hole and my RAM wouldn't go stable de-clocked in that range.

I actually made 4.2 Ghz but I failed IntelBurnTest because my cooling won't let me volt up high enough to stablize, going back for it when I get a second fan for the cooler.

The BCLK multiplier has nothing to do with memory. Only the BCLK itself, the qpi/vtt and dram voltage, and of course the timings. For me I don't let mine to get above 85c during IBT maximum tests.

In terms of memory concern, don't aim to get it to 1600 or above when you're overclocking 4Ghz and up. Many users at that speed usually set their mem speed at x6 or x8 way below the indicated speed.

Recently I tried to manually configure my memory settings with the lowest possible speed(x6), 1.5DRAM voltage, QPI/VTT @1.1v, timings at 9-9-9-25-34-1T and my load temps were 6c lower! QPI/VTT does contribute in raising vcore temps.

With regards to your video glitch, are you overclocking your gpu? Have you tried ATI Tool and running it for 15-30 mins? It has nothing to do with cpu/memory. Make sure you also have the latest gpu drivers.
