I wonder what these cpu's would do with more cache... Being clock for clock they are faster then the C2Q...

I will keep an eye on it, I usually have the everest tool up so I can keep an eye on core usage, I have had a few different programs hang and the process runs even tho the program closed...

And thats not even including the porn sites

Okay so my blend test one of my cores got FATAL ERROR after 4 hours and 11 minutes.

Just to make sure - that's definitely not a memory problem, right? I upped vcore slightly before trying this again... so I'll up vcore again when I get home and start another blend and try to get at least 6 hours complete...

I'm trying to prove that there is nothing wrong with the ram, except that stupid boot up issue that I just don't care about anymore...

When mine did not pass blend I first tried upping QPI/vtt and it failed anyway. I ended up having to raise V-core some more and set my vtt to the same as v-core. Hope this helps you

I could certainly try matching QPI and VCORE and see what happens.

Just curious,

What are your voltages and other settings?

I have the same motherboard as you, and I just could not get stable @ 4Ghz.
max vcore I tried was 1.4, with llc on.

I've since settled for 3.6 Ghz with my vcore @ 1.375, llc off, vtt @ 1.3
200 x 18, and ram multi @ 8 for 1600 Mhz

No errors in IBT.

I'm trying a blend test again today with 1.3vcore, 1.25 qpi and 1.6 dram.

Hope this passes after at least 6 hours. If it does, I'm convinced the system is stable including the ram. At that point it's time to call Gigabyte and/or G.Skill and complain about the booting issue!
