Dunno what Tj max is. But Tcase according to Intel's website is 72C. I'm personally scared to go above that. Good thing i5 doesn't get as hot as i7.

Can anyone confirm to me what is the real TJ Max of i5-760?
No real need to be scared if it hits 81C. I like to keep mine below 80C (which isn't hard to do) but if it hits 85C there's no need to freak out. I'll just stop the test and work on lowering it. TJ Max is dependent on the individual chip. Somewhere around 100C. I've read that Realtemp is supposed to read the actual TJmax off of the CPU. I do not know if that is true or not. Showing mine as 99C

TJ Max is the temp at which the cpu will shut down to prevent it from getting any hotter and causing damage. Although I have also heard it described as the point at which thermal throttling will kick in. I haven't "tested" it yet on my i5 or i7. I can tell you that on a Pentium D it will try throttling first and if you don't heed the warning and keep pushing it, then it will BSOD. "I wonder what TJ Max is" ya, I remember saying that

Tcase is different than core temp. Different sensors. Usually Tcase is 10C or more lower than core. HWmonitor or Speedfan will list the Tcase temp. Should list it as CPU or CPUXXX. Where the cores will be reported seperate.

Been pushing my 760 a little more this weekend. I finally hit my goal of a sub9 Superpi 1M time. Also picked up a wicked validation.

I had to enable turbo to get the 22 multi, had to enable speedstep to enable turbo while overclocked and this thing apparently scales voltage automatically if speedstep is on though not by as much with C1E disabled. Weird, my i7 you have to do a little dance and align the sun, moon, and stars just right to get voltage scaling while overclocked but to get 22 you just type it in.

wow i really have no idea what is in your system ~sizzzle~.! it's just weird you could OC that high given that low voltage.... maybe it's your mobo? or your PSU? or i don't know what you put in there.. hahahahaha... maybe your system has a defect? (on the positive side of course) it's just weird.... hehehe.. all i can say is you are lucky, hope i was... so when you test your 760, up to what max temp do you allow your chip when you use IBT max 20 passes?

Well I tried to explain at the end of that post a little of what happened on that 4.6 run. It looks cool and is valid but not exactly what I'd consider legit. The power savings stuff was kicking in and dropping the voltage at idle along with the CPU multi. CPU-z doesn't recognize the cpu-multi drop but does the voltage drop. The voltage was set much higher and it was loading higher than what the validation was for. ~1.43v while running SuperPi. Not great at all. I didn't load it up with Prime95 to get a proper load voltage @ 4.6. From what my vdroop has done in the past I'd guess it would have been high 1.41x or low 1.42x. Highly doubt it would have tested out fully stable. I don't quite have that much faith in the A70 to keep temps in check for a full stability run at that speed and voltage.

Max temp for 20 passes of IBT Max? I'd like to keep it under 80C. Though I might let a few extra degrees slide depending on what I'm going to do with the overclock. If I'm planning on folding with it definately keep it under 80C. Just planning on doing some gaming or running some benchmarks with it, I might let 82-83C squeak in. I'm taking that off of max temp on the hottest core in Realtemp.
