Yeah my problem is that last night my max temp was 90C at 1.325vcore and 21x189 after 9 hours p95.. I didn't think temps would be an issue either when i bought the A70.. so now i'm going to go straight for water cooling!

Well I am making some progress... Got to 4.0, still need to do a prolonged Prime95 test, but got through 20 pass IBT.

Temps are reasonable, have vcore in bios set to 1.325 with "Without VDroop" set so actual load vcore is around 1.35v

Set CPU Clock Skew to - 100, seems to have helped stabilize...

Just tried IBT for the first time ever. Only ran it for 5 runs @ whatever the standard GUI is. It passed so I guess that is good. the highest Gflops was 55.1135...lowest was 54.6449. Max Temps were 71/71/65/69. So this along with 10+hrs sm fft and 8 hrs Blend means what?

10acjed's Gflops were higher than mine ,so is his CPU smarter?

I've found that Gflops can vary depending on how much RAM you tell IBT to use. I score higher Gflops at around 3050MB used, but that's just me. I generally score anywhere from 55-59 Gflops @ 4.114GHz. The highest I ever scored was 59.4 Gflops.

BTW, when stress testing, be sure to run it at Maximum stress level. Also, run about 25-50 runs. That really gives it time to heat up. Some people run it overnight, but I wouldn't recommend that.

IBT is a good program for quick testing, I use it for when I get the itch to tamper with things and see if I can go higher... I have passed 20+ IBT at normal settings and still failed Prime95 blend, usually its close tho just a little tweak here or there will stablize...

Plus IBT really puts some heat on your cpu, if you can stay under 70c with it your good to go...

I say your stable just from the Prime runs Denny...

Gflops are like any other bench mark, close everything and they will go up (or down? whatever = faster)..
I just installed Windows last night, so I am on a trimmed down OS for now

Gotcha. I haven't done any long stress testing yet. Haven't been able to break 4ghz without failing IBT yet though I'll mess around with it more later when I have time, I just installed a Thermalright Shaman on my 470, and man that thing keeps it cool

But anyway, I'm sitting at 3.9ghz right now. Again, no long stress tests, just a few 5 runs of IBT, but I have played some Black Ops and SC2, no problems so far.

That seems really high. Did you mount the A70 properly?

I wouldn't jump straight to water cooling after that, there are much better air coolers than an A70.

Yeah, it's been re-mounted about 3 or 4 times.. I even followed a guide for applying it to coolers with direct touch heat pipes.. I'm now using AS5 as i heard that was the best at the time.. Also I figured if i'm going to spend more money might as well go for water cooling as it adds many benefits. Like being able to cool the GPU as well and being quieter!

Heres my attempt.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1543324

Its not 100% Stable though, after running Prime 95 for a few hours temps go to 80 and it BSOD. Its fine while gaming though.

That's very impressive for running stock cooling. Umm,you are running stock cooling? If so get aftermarket and you will be much better off
